Local resna enjoyer here. My static and myself did not participate in the duping (I kind of expected this to happen), so thats at least 20 level 25s from enveus still in the game :D I'm really glad intrepid went so hard after the dupers.

Duping often has more than one benefactor; if you just go after the duper there is still an incentive to dupe. What Intrepid did was show that if you do business with a duper as another player, or even allow them to 'invest' in a node there is absolutely a risk of everyone involved just being nuked. It makes people less likely do so business with them in the future if people think they could possibly become collateral damage from the next 'ban wave'.

It looks like anyone who did business with a duper got their stuff removed as well. It also seems like effected nodes have been rolled back and had their mayors removed.

People abusing bugs on alpha is a bad move for them. Gladly, Intrepid does some actions and maintains the fair test environment.. It shows how Steven and Intrepid actually care for the game and its community.. I'm glad to be oart of this community.

Really happy this happened. I remember hearing about the dupe and being annoyed thinking about what people could do with it. It would be really funny if they did do this intentionally to bait people. I look forward to seeing what things look like when we can finally log in. Also, pretty sure Envious has some fun videos of your GM exploiting and afk grinding mobs so it's flattering to have a song made for us but your guild definitely has it's own exploiters. Also, when it comes to world bosses, from my experience, the advantage came because they would spawn every time the server crashed so Envious got a lot of kills (because the server kept crashing). All tumock kills i was a part of was done legit. Only reason firebrand kills were a little scuffed was the boss would eventually fly itself into terrain. We would fight him legit until that happened and never did anything to make it happen. There also didn't seem to be a way to reset him. He would just stay there, regening his health.

Most of these games were created in the pre-industrial era of cheating. Sure people cheated back then but it wasn't nearly as sophisticated. Most of the gold sellers were people actually playing the game from low-wage countries. Now there's huge money in botting and fraud. So much so that some of these companies have created their own version of the WoW client that is entirely text based for the sole purpose of real life power efficiency and being able to run more clients. Just insane stuff man.

Unfortunately, deleting the characters doesn't really do anything. If someone is willing to exploit this hardcore in an Alpha, then they have no interest in the game being successful. The accounts and the CC's that paid for them shoulda been blacklisted and thrown out. Letting these players stick around is a huge mistake, and they'll pop up again. A huge missed opportunity for AoC.

The accounts have already gotten warnings. Meaning they might be on thin ice for a real ban the next time. These accounts have absolutely been flagged.

@@ZybakTV But all that does is give the CS guys more stuff to do and accounts to watch instead of doing what they're already tasked with. If someone robs a bank, the punishment isn't just that they have to return the money and now you're 'watching' them. Maybe I'm just heartless, but if someone will exploit this way in an alpha, I don't think they care a lick about making the game successful.

@@ZybakTV It depends, in this case you could argue that there isn't any need to treat people like FTOs because they are well aware that what they are doing is wrong. The idea about leniency is hoping that it will deter individuals who have stepped into a situation without really understanding what they were doing. That's not the case here at all. What you're talking about is just a freebie.

@@HT-jj5sx it's important to act rationally not emotionally what intrepid is doing is absolutely the right thing to do people do stop breaking rules after their character gets deleted which is a pretty heavy punishment it shows to players that the devs aren't messing around and makes most people think twice this also exposes the 2nd time offenders more as it shows that the 2nd time offenders aren't committed to testing the game and will be dealt with

Hey, the way I see it is them having their characters deleted is fine. This is a test, breaking the game is the goal. Now exploiting that bug and creating more work for the devs is a different story. We are testers, this is not the official game and we should conduct ourselves accordingly. A lot of people are taking this test phase far too seriously.

I do find it amusing that this video went from, "Resna server abused the heck out of it." to "Enveus". Not everyone in Enveus duped. Same could be said for EPH, Nova, Axiom, etc. Just feels disingenuous to me personally.

The primary difference is that most of the other dupers are fly by night people nobody knows. However Enveous had some pretty prominent figures who had been testing the game for years, had interviews with the developers etc. But yea a whole shitload of people did it and the Resna server has 1 mayor right now….🤣💀
