I've always wondered why any new rotor needed to be sprayed down with brake cleaner. Especially when the company states its a coated rotor.

I mistaking my oversparyed my new zinc coated rotors with a turtle wax wheel cleaner and they were stained badly. Any tip on how to clean them other than with soap and water? Thanks

what happens if you do clean it with break clean. I mean i clean my rotors all the time with that stuff. Will it hurt the coating if I clean them with the break clean spray?

no it won't hurt your brakes. it's made for that.

I see NO other manufacturers recommending this. I bought PowerStop and will be following their recommendation to clean with mild soap and water. I suppose the lesson here is follow the recommendation of the manufacturer of the rotors you buy and not "universal" advice that may not be good for your situation.

I think the important part is to get the oil and grease off spraying brake cleaner isn’t going to remove the coating. I’m with you I’ll follow mfg directions

He is talking about the silver coating on the rotors. Not the oil preservative coating the rotor during shipping. Yes clean the oil off or you may not be able to stop
