@@KingStoic101 Most have learned that being authentic leaves you vulnerable. They learn it early and then become guarded. They often learn that success is a matter of seizing opportunities, and that without regard for others - it's a competition. That creates a dog eat dog world where self preservation is at the core and true identity is often lost in the pursuit of material gain. We learn to guard ourselves in battle before we learn to navigate the landmines in battlefield itself. We learn to be what we think we need to before learning to read others with our intuition. We learn to see the signs before we learn to understand and mitigate them. There is nothing wrong with pursuing excellence. I believe Stoic Philosophy says do it, just not at the expense of others. Do it sincerely holding others in care, advocating for their prosperity as well and with noble intention. Just my 2 cents...

That sounds like narcissism to me. My late ex carried a darkness in him that I didn't see until I finally left and began to unravel all of the things he did behind my back, all the while smiling to my face. He had one of those personalities who could smile while telling a lie, and you'd somehow believe it. He was a top salesman for a home improvement company, and he had to lie to make sales. Otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to afford to live. He didn't care that he lied or that he could get caught. Then, when it happened, he acted like the victim. Thank you for sharing this! Imagine a country in which, the entire adminstration/government behave like you've just described!! Always smiling, always friendly, always 'happy' but, only on the facade. When/if you turn your back, they betray you, they steal from you, they lie about you.. with a smile on their face... . Many years ago I left such a country.. They still steal, lie and betray..... and, should I take the liberty of visiting them, they will smile at me and, if I confront them with their crimes, they will tell me with a smile, they just did it 'for the fun of it'.. I'm happy all over, I managed to get out of there...but worry for the people who live there and, for the people, forced to come there as refugees, needing true help... Thanks again for sharing from I who managed to get away from the oldest Colonial (Hell) ón our planet Earth.....

Use a relationship worksheet, and keep track of their inconsistent behavior, and their comments. Tell them that you found a better job with better pay. Share good news to see if they can be happy for you. Let them think they are going to get something that they want, and then take it away. Watch their response and look out for the disgard.. Unfortunately, in a world dominated by narcissism it becomes extremely challenging for those who attempt forward movement on the path of self-growth. The world is based on dualism and the illusion of separation. The powerful are always those who've achieved their status at the expense or exploitation of others. It's been and continues to be the way of the world. For those brave and loving souls who choose to take "the road less traveled" there will be many obstacles in their way. Fortunately, the human spirit is our strength and guide along the path. First, we must recognize our weaknesses, become aware of them, and make the decision to not act out our negative tendencies. Our innate reaction is to attack mentally, verbally or physically when we feel threatened in any way. It is our survival mode. We must learn to transcend this reaction. Surrender to it instead of reacting. This step must be taken and adhered to, or nothing changes. For those seeking the honorable path, there are few and far between, It takes great effort, strength, courage and stamina. The reward is joy and inner peace. "A Course in Miracles" a book written by Helen Schucman is the preeminent guide on the journey.@@KingStoic101

THERE IS, PEOPLE WHO ARE GENUINELY REAL, AT BEING KIND & HELPFUL & CARING, & NOT BEING THAT WAY TO ATTRACT PEOPLE TO THEM SO THEY CAN USE THEM. PLEASE DONT MAKE THAT BEHAVIOR LOOK OR SOUND SKETCHY, PEOPLE JUST NEED TO TAKE ALOT OF TIME TO GET TO KNOW SOMEONE REAL GOOD !!! AND I WOULD ENJOY AND GET MORE OUT OF YOUR LESSON IF YOU DINT HAVE ANY MUSIC OR NOISE GOING ON IN THE BACK GROUND !!!

I married an evil, abusive narcissist. He had an agenda. Every single identifier named in this video was him to a tee. I was duped and it cost me everything including my relationship with my adult son (not his child)

That sounds incredibly difficult, @barbandsarge. It takes a lot of courage to share such a personal experience. Your strength in recognizing the situation is truly inspiring. I wonder, have you found any resources or support groups helpful in your journey of healing?

@KingStoic101 .... it was my problem. Only I could get out of it... over the 10 years I've gotten back on my feet (sort of). I didn't think at this age I'd be pinching pennies but here I am. I have a handful of female friends I am close with ... oh yeah ... Trust is non-existent otherwise. I can only count on myself. My relationship with my son is dead in the water. I just hope if he has children they never say and do to him what he's put me thru. My only companion now is my dog .... I can trust him.

People who don’t have God within their heart will never understand kindness, true compassion and love.no matter what they have been allowed to achieve, they will find no one to care nor love them once they grow old and sick.
