I’m new to the page but GREAT reaction! What’s even more amazing is the entire fight scene in the kitchen was improvised. Taylor gave them the freedom to go where the scene took them. Sadie and Dylan were amazing in this performance.

This was a fantastic reaction. I like how you saw what was going on and were able to talk about it so easily. Many men reacting to this do not typically see the red flags, or they do and pretend not to. I'd like to see more TS reactions from you. I want to recommend Mad Woman and The Man. 💜 I completely agree with you on the subject of age. My personal opinion is that you are not an adult until you are around 25 years old because that is when your brain finishes developing and you can understand consequences. Certain people in this world purposefully date younger people because they know they can manipulate the younger one. Also, never be afraid of talking "too much". Us #Swifties will listen to every word.

That was one of my favourite reactions of this 🙏 as someone else said, you are one of the very few male reactors that caught up to the gaslighting at once! Loved it! Btw I think you were distracted by Sadie’s amaaazing acting (understandable) but you missed THE best lyric ever in the history of music: and you call me up again just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest… a lot of people have that when they watch the film and listen to the song for the first time together, I just thought it deserved to be said :)
@tnae
@tnae 2 жыл бұрын
That’s high praise and I really appreciate it. Sadie did do an absolutely INCREDIBLE job, that’s for sure. I do remember noting the last half of that line you mentioned when I watched it. I’m always trying to decide what I’ll talk about and what I won’t because - in most cases - I’m trying to make sure not to stop too often or talk too much…..obviously I failed in this one 😝. “Casually cruel in the name of being honest” is an incredible line and I think that it’s power - much like so many of the lines in this song and the few other Taylor songs I’ve heard recently - comes from the fact that is so fundamentally true and nearly universally relatable. Thanks for watching and commenting and all that. I’m adding something like this on to a lot of replies to comments on Taylor’s videos lately because despite how popular we all know she is, videos on her music (and other mainstream pop starts) just aren’t doing very well so I’m just giving an extra thanks to those of you who watch and comment and especially share the video with other Taylor fans. It always means a lot but it’s especially helpful on these videos right now. You guys, swifties, have been really awesome and welcoming. So thanks 😊

Regarding the gaslighting? Note that he is literally framed by the lights above the gas stove. This is the level Taylor Swift works on and it's amazing, beautiful and scary all at the same time. Welcome to the Swiftie world. ETA: now you're saying you'd get your knuckles bloody if someone treated someone that way? :deep sigh:. You have no idea what you've walked into but it's a wonderful place.

Thanks for this reaction!! You had one of my favorite reactions. So many men that I have watched react to this say the girl is overreacting and are on the side of the guy. It’s so important to recognize how damaging this type of toxic behavior can be in a relationship.
@tnae
@tnae 2 жыл бұрын
I agree. I don't think, until I read your comment, I even really considered the gender of the people in this relationship. I guess I only saw the dynamic between them and the abuses happening. That's an interesting that you've seen that trend. To me it was less about that and more about the harm we can do to each other when we try to use someone else's admiration of us to heal any sense of unworthiness we may feel about ourselves. I think at the end of the video that was my biggest takeaway. Thanks for watching this one! I'm struggling to get some of these main stream artists to be at least a little successful on the channel and every click, every comment, it all really helps! So thanks :)

This is one of the best reactions I've seen to this film so far. Instant follow from me, you've passed the vibe check -- something so many haven't been able to do with that scene. As far as talking too much, I can't speak for everyone, but I watch reaction videos because I want to hear the reactor's thoughts and perspective. I know a lot of reactors are just there to give us facial expressions, but I'm a Taylor Swift fan because she's an amazing storyteller, and we Swifties love to discuss what we think her songs mean. So I'm in it for the deep talks. I'm looking for reactions as thoughtful as this one. Talk as much as you want, I'll be here for it.

I noticed you commented on the color saturation of the film. It was shot on regular film stock. As I recall, Kodak made a special run of Ektachrome(?) for this. Taylor has talked about it in an interview. She and her DP selected that specifically for the richness of the color pallet. Taylor did the story boarding herself. There apparently was a script for the fight scene, but they only used it as a guide. I love the song. I also love this short film.

23:24 He didn’t showed up to her 21st birthday party! She talks about it in the song “The Moment I Knew”! Also her song “22” hits way harder when you realize she probably had a shitty 21st birthday and that’s why she really wanted to celebrate the next one!

Thank you very much for your reaction. Your insights and perspective are greatly appreciated...I never care about the length of a reaction as long as the content is meaningful. I liked how you noticed the gaslighting, but another good observation I've seen others make was that Taylor showed that "Her" didn't have good communication skills...yet. the song is amazing with so many incredible lines, but the one that has always hit me is "I might be okay, but I'm not fine at all." "The moment I knew" is about her 21st birthday and then she wrote "22" because her 21st birthday sucked so much, she really wanted to enjoy her next one. Taylor Swift and NF are my two favorite artists. I have a playlist with ALL of their songs and just play it on shuffle. Please continue reacting to both!!!

The “if we had been closer in age” line hits hard because he chose something she couldn’t change to blame the ending of their relationship on. If she was wanting to fix things, that is something she can’t fix. Then he goes on to continue to date women from this age range proving it wasn’t the real reason anyway. Great reaction! You saw straight to the gaslighting (Taylor even had the knobs on the stove be red to give us a hint lol. Plus, this song being from the “Red” album.) which a lot of male reactors I have watched don’t seem to catch. Ty, also, for the wise words you shared. I am in total agreement!

Wonderful comments on the content and meaning of this extraordinary film. Thanks for addressing those topics and appreciating Taylor's excellent writing on this song and script. The picture of an unequal relationship speaks to so many people, not just in romantic relationships, and the acting in this film really brought home the emotional content of the song and its story. I don't know another channel on KZbin where I hear this kind of response, so thanks!

I loved this reaction. I went through a relationship exactly like this. There is no worse feeling than being gaslit and knowing that they will never ever understand you or where you’re coming from, they won’t even try. Also, the knobs on the oven are red and I totally think that was symbolism for her baking gaslit during the argument! Red flag! Great job thank you!

Thanks for this Brandon, this was a masterclass in many levels : song writing, acting, directing. The story being told from the Her POV, it worked very well at making us angry at Him and see how badly affected Her was. Sadie Sink and Dylan o’Brien were both incredible and kudos on Taylor for making us hate Dylan o’Brien in a role because he’s a sweetheart that everybody loves. The lyrics were amazing, some really stay with us like :You kept me like a secret but I kept you like an oath or I was never good at telling jokes but the punchline goes : I’ll get older but your lovers stay my age!!!! Or even And you call me up again just to break me like a promise!!! So casually cruel in the name of being honest!!!! Taylor is on the same level as Lara for songwriting I believe, truly incredible!

Taylor making this song helped me confirm that I wasn't crazy for feeling the feelings that i felt in my previous relationship. When she repeats the "I was there" or "You were there" it's like she's telling herself, "No Taylor you were there, you heard what he said. He knows what he said. You're not crazy. You were there and it was rare." I felt delusion because of the way my ex would gaslight me. But this song really helped me get unstuck from that.

I love this reaction so much omg, i hope you know that us Swifties we love to analyze her songs and this 10 minute song holds a special place in our hearts- so you can be sure that i would have sat here for an hour long video of you talking about it and about gaslighting and how you feel about the song and lyrics. Also, i personally also connect the "maybe this thing was a masterpiece till you tore it all up" to her saying "I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here" as if she was the masterpiece that he tore up and left on the ground. And btw yes this does have a behind the scene video, it's on Taylor's KZbin account.
