Few things. He decreased the brightness to 0. Just for the video, as you can see later on he puts back the brightness to an increased value, something like 30-40. The yellow blue block glasses are a mock-up, my fiance is an optometrist, it doesn't matter if you use f lux or w/e. Those yellow tinted glasses are awful and expensive. Not worth it, just marketing catch. The lamp on the top of the monitor will give you reflections, which will lead to eyestrains as well. I think He could have done a much better job, explaining like what value to use for brightness, alternatives and just go into the topic more with better experience. Like panels matter more and why many people are returning nano ips panels which hugely increase eyestrain and headaches. What rgb settings to use? Is better contrast ratio easier on the eyes? So many things we could have talk about. Even just to eat more salty because if someone is working out or it's summer, you will lose tons of salt by sweating. Also drinking more water is needed a lot.

Hi László! I already returned an LG 27GN880-B (nano ips) because i can't find the reason why my eyes are strained while i reading on that. Gaming and watching videos was mostly fine. I tried a lot of settings on it but i had marginal improvements. Can you tell me what was bad with that monitor? I already searched the answer on the internet but can't really find the reason. What type of panel, size, contrast, color and refresh rate is best for our eyes? Best wishes, Attila.

I also face a lot of eye problems as I'm a developer and designer and using the screen for the last 8-10 years. Spending much time on screen. Here is some advice from my side that will help everyone to reduce Eye strain. These tips work for me and I go to many doctors and do a lot of research and find them. 1. Take a break after 20-25 minutes for 30-60 seconds. See you at a long distance. 2. Drink more water. 3. Try to reduce screen time 4. Make a good light environment while using a screen 5. Never use a screen in a dark room or in a low-light environment. 6. Blink your eye Frequently. 7. Use software that will remind you to take a break like Stretchly for Windows. So these will help you a lot. Prayer for me as well 😊

Thank you for this, we're surrounded by screens nowadays. From studying online, to watching tv and browsing our phones, our eyes are so important to care for. I find using the blue light filter on your phone and having anti blue light glasses helps too.

5 Tips: #1 Brightness : Low as per timeOfDay #2 BenQ Screen Bar : Similar to reading Lamp. Useful for working at night. Has temperature and Brightness adjustment. #3 Have a Good Font Style and Right Size : Roboto, Ubuntu, Open Sans, IBM Plex. #4 Have Glasses That Block Blue Light. #5 Enable Dark Mode : White Light and warm temperatures tire the eyes more. MyProTip : Buy a good Monitor with high refresh rate. That is less tiring.

I would recommend any VA panel monitor. Nano IPS strains eyes and gives you migraine, headaches and dizziness. No settings will help you. I had an alienware 2720hfa, returned it because of that. I have got wo asus vg32vqr at the moment (32inch 1440p, 165hz). Highly recommended monitor. The dethroner of the g7, as they call it in reviews. No smearing, no ghosting, no motion blur.

For myopic individuals, to reduce eye strain: 1) Invest on natural ambient lighting "full spectrum UV bulbs". Your eyes would thank you for providing quality lighting. 2) Avoid using screens in dark room/poor-lit environment. Night mode, anti-blue light whatever, would still give you astigmatism. 3) Re-adjust your screens before the point of blur horizon. Why stare at your screens at half your arm's length when you can still see clearly if you move back a little? Move your screens or your sitting position away ergonomically until it barely starts to blur. 4) Go touch some grass. Spend 2 hours outside on a sunny day. Get some distance vision. No wonder your eyes keep getting worse, you've never balanced your vision plane. Daily close-up: eye strain, more myopia. Daily distance vision: eyes relaxed, possibility of improved vision? Well, try it yourself.

Another tip is if your programming at night make sure to keep the light on. Never code in the dark at night. Preferably use light mode with the lights on to reduce eye strain. Otherwise dark mode with light on is fine but risk of eye strain is higher.

I think everyone is different, for me, light mode with the blue light filter works better, I used to use dark mode all the time and my eyes would get blurry, they felt tired. Even some studies say that dark mode is not as good as everyone claims it to be.

Yeah. Its true. Human eye is designed better see in white background and black text. It focus well. But while in dark mode and white text, u can see lots of emissive light and which is not good to focus. In dark mode depth of field decrease. Thats why in dark mode everything is tough to find. I reduce my contrast in a certain level in white mode and problem solved.

Honestly the best tip: "consider investing in glasses or contact lenses designed specifically for computer work. Ask your optometrist about lens coatings and tints that might help too." this reduces the work needed for you to read text, in turn giving rest to your eyes.

Night mode hurts your eyesight more then light mode. Its true that night mode strain eyes less, but hurts them more. Especially if you have astigmatism as research proved that night mode makes your lense widen a bit, which in turn worsens your astigmatism. Light mode does the opposite.

You could be affected by pulse width modulation (PWM) dimming. Instead of controlling brightness by changing the voltage level to a lower level (DC dimming), brightness is controlled by switching the backlight on and off for a certain period of time. A brightness level of 50% means 50% of the time light on (at 100% brightness) and 50% light off. Not just does the constant change in brightness tire our eye muscles a lot more than a constant brightness level, but your eyes are exposed to 100% brightness in regurlar intervals. Cheap monitors and OLEDs are especially affected by this. In the case of the former, PWM dimming is easier to implement electronically and requires less components than DC dimming. Look for devices which are confirmed to have DC dimming and 0 Hz PWM frequency. Notebookcheck publishes a big list (PWM Ranking) with monitors, smartphones, laptops and so on that have been examined for PWM dimming.

As per internet search - Blue-light: Natural light in day time has full spectrum of colors including a healthy dose of blue light. At night we have no natural blue light from sun. Blue light appears to have no effect on eye strain. At night time, you want to wear blue-light filtered glasses if you are around blue light heavy light(LED-lights). This helps with your sleep and you wont need artificial melatonin. Either lower your blue light around you or wear blue light filter glasses. Eye strain most likely comes from flickering screen. You may want to invest $100 or more on quality monitor if you are going use monitor for longer time than one time use.

well just think about what you are doing on computer. Divide into categories and choose which category is most important and go slowly to the least important one. Try to find some hobby other than computer. You can adopt a cat or a dog to spare time which will also increase your responsibility and mood all day long. As a person who spent 10-12 hours everyday till today ( age 7 to 20) I can clearly say computer games suck if you dont have any friend. They're just addictive. Try to be more social and care about self-development.

My case is worst, I'm a colourist. And I can't use a tented lens, to see colours accurately. 😭😭😭😭😭And I have a photophobia.

Dark theme is very bad idea. That is exactly why the eyes loose focus. I switched back to light theme everywhere , also on the phone , and the eyes are doing much better now.

Please use a monitor with PPI above 163. Like a 4k monitor at 27 inches. That is the only thing which can heal your eyes. Or use retina display with 288ppi. Thank me later.
