Don't Make A Burn Barrel Until You Watch This Video!!

Many people have made the claim they can show you how to make the best burn barrel. In this video I will walk you through the process of making a burn barrel that requires no outside input and completes the burn process, leaving very little residue.

Slit another barrel longitudinally. (First removing the top and bottom of the barrel.) Make it an outer sleeve around the first barrel, of course opened up slightly so it has space, with the edges screwed near the longitudinal edges of your damper door. Cut 5-6 inch vertical cuts into the top of the outer barrel every few inches, and bend the resulting flaps inward and screw against the inner barrel. Finally, make a dozen or 2 dozen sizeable holes around the top of the inner barrel, and a draft of clean (and extremely preheated) air will be injected into the top of the burn, making the burn practically smokeless once it's fully underway.

A burn pit operates on the same principle. Draw air into the bottom and blast it out the top just like a blast furnaces. The high temperatures created eliminates all smoke because of the super complete burning process

Funny, couple hours ago I left a comment on a burn barrel video saying I'd probably build a better floor using expanded metal. I also like the fact that you have quick access to cleaning out the ashes as they build up.

I would never cut the top of the barrel off like that. The edges are way too sharp. I leave the rolled edge around the top it isn't sharp (and looks a hell of alot better) Also, make slot at an angle around the whole barrel so it burns smoke free and hotter with less ash.

A barrow inside a barrow allows preheating of the combustion air at the top, a second burn, less pollution. Also, no need to cut the whole top off, just cut an inside circle piece out, formed to have blades for a vortex grate. Cut out bottomless barrow, just move the barrow to pick up ash.

+1 sub, nice vid. Can I please ask, have you ever burnt left over big beef and other carcass bones. I have loads to dispose of and I’m planning to turn them to powder and ash for fertiliser. Just wondering how long and how much effort is required to turn them to a brittle texture. Thanks 👍👍👍

I have never tried to burn big beef carcasses, however I have disposed of smaller carcasses this way. Yes it will reduce the bones to powder. Depending on what the carcass is, it will sometimes reduce the carcass in the 1st burn and have to burn a second time to finish turning the bone into ash. Hope this answers your question. If that doesn't work for you, I will also compost the carcass at times as opposed to burning it. I do this a lot with the left over from butchering on the farm.

A lot of smoke pollution. Have you seen the dual drum burn barrels with secondary combustion! Titled smoke free, they are good, but not perfect. When in action, looks like a jet flame !

Make 6 V cuts the angle grinder and hammer the inside of the V into the barrel. These 6 large vents are plenty. My barrels. Last 2 years. I have cut down 6 large trees. They all burned up in less than one week.

@@TN-ez6lz Somebody needs to fabricate a cradle. Cut the bottom and top from the barrel. Make a sleeve that the barrel can be inserted so the barrel never touches the ground and it automatically sifts all of the ashes out the bottom.

Why not just cut the very top of the barrel and leave the rim in tact you've lost a lot of strength by cutting down into the barrel

So they don't have to be transported to the land fill. They are made from natural gas liquids so basically just a hydrocarbon like gasoline or propane.
