Yuppp! I am a seasoned artist with ink, drawing, and have known that I was artist from small toddler age💗 I went on that journey, and gradually found all my favorite styles and put them together with years and years of practicing and taking something small here and there from other artists, like a curve,a light in an eyeball,my lettering(graffiti) id look at books and online at other artists work for inspiration and now 3 decades later I definitely have a certain style,my own style that if anyone tried copying me everyone who knows my work would know, and it is an amazing feeling knowing that I found my signature style. But!! The journey does not stop here!!! Oh no my dear,, I am always learning new techniques and now I’m painting,I am skilled with ink, all inks! So learning more about paint, paint pouring, cells, so much fun!!! It’s another journey that I’m excited to travel. Good luck little artists💗💖💗 happy travels ☮️🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸🎨🎨🖌🌸🌼

I have personally commented on posts by loish and pascal so many times and have had real conversations with them, (while I am a nobody on insta). I think staying humble is the biggest factor in having dedicated followers, Loish also shares her favourite brushes for free which was super helpful when I was just starting out. Also, I agree with your advice for beginner artists, if you post don’t worry about the likes/comments, if you can’t then don’t post until you start feeling more confident about your work.
@th3acescorpio4 жыл бұрын
Being humble will definitely get you a lot further than doing the opposite. A lot of artist get really stingy with sharing their brushes, "because they don't want people swagger jacking their style!" But it's real simple to find out the types of brushes artist use, and plus, being stingy with brushes just makes a person look kind of like a pretentious ass.

I went through not focusing on my art style at all and went hiatus for 3 years to find the art style I really want, but at the cost of losing my engagements. Sometimes a few looks on reels or pinterest would make you rilled up but it went away right after picking up the pen. Just take things one thing at a time, no pressure to post. Just enjoy the process to draw. By the time you mastered that and found your art style, you can start focusing on your audience, which is what I’m having trouble with now honestly 😅. But let’s keep on trying.

Once I made my art acc and even gave a shout-out from my casual acc , it seems people are not really interested in your talent. My art acc even after begging to be followed has only 190 followers something. People see my artwork from my casual acc on story but they don't make an effort to go like or follow. And now I stopped begging others to check my art. And hence I only follow artists and some genuine people who actually look at my art. I’m glad people are able to create different types of art, it goes against creativity to constantly be blinkered with ‘must post same thing or lose followers’ to satisfy a website. I know of artists who started in fandom and now work eg as background artists and still they lose followers with every post, so maybe followers aren’t the holy grail anyway. Connection and engagement with your audience is one of the most important things on Instagram, KZbin or anywhere, you’re building an audience so talk and listen to them.

Lois is amazing, talented, and very down to earth. Many, many years ago she did a digital commission for me and allowed me to watch her paint while asking questions about technique, etc. I credit her for kickstarting my switch from traditional mediums to digital. @Scarshadow6664 жыл бұрын
Personally from my experience, I think that any beginner or intermediate artists that are just jumping into or slowly working up their skills in their craft and want to display their art should start locally and look into any nearby art groups/communities and get their art in small galleries or cafes, or to focus making artwork that a small group of friends/family can see (depending on the beginner/intermediate artists' social circle and environment), and then make it a slow process with putting up their art on social media (with the exception of a small audience/group of friends on somewhere like a Discord thread). Even if they're introverted/loners, all that's needed is just for them to focus on their art in their own time and not to rush into posting any art online so that they can focus on finding their own niche and making it for themselves without the pressure of what any algorithms/followers would want.

That’s pretty true, but I don’t think digital art and popularity directly correlate with one another. Even though most of the big artists I follow now work mainly digitally, I still find the traditional drawings (that they make every so often) appealing. Digital is just the “wave of the future” I guess, and does make drawing a little easier.

I hate to see those big accounts that never even like the sincere comment you leave them., as to why I always respond to all my comments. 3rd Thank you for putting this video together, really awesome tips and strategies you've outlined!

I started my page in Dec of 2019, but didn't really start drawing consistently until March of this year. I'm at almost 100 followers but i'm pretty satisfied with that now. Just knowing that, that many people appreciate my art is pretty cool.

my problem is that not only do I NOT have a style, but I delve into many branches of art whether it be sculpting, then knitting, then painting, then digital art, then watercolors, then woodworking. and then I cycle through random things again. I'm just an amateur at a bunch of different things instead of excelling at one specific thing.

"you can change your artstyle." i needed to hear this, I've only been uplaoding realistic portraits on my IG but they're kinda boring to look at. I wanted to transition to a kind of surrealism and so hearing this is encouraging! I also got an iPad +procreate, so transitioning a bit into digital art without being punished for changing my medium would be nice

This is accurate for me, I started releasing videos on my channel and then I stopped cause I told myself people wont like it. I spent my time off to learn and I just restarted it. This time, I'm giving it my all x.x consistency is key 💛

Same, I’m a woman and also mostly draw females or people of uncertain gender (I just don’t bother deciding on one, and depending on the clothes, the anatomy is hidden and I get away with it - if asked, most people would say they’re women, though :D). A friend of mine used to post portraits of female models and celebrities, and she had 1500 followers while I’m posting more cartoony art and am barely scratching the 300 mark after five years 😂

You know, this video came at a good time. I kept seeing tips on how to be successful on social media and a lot of them were all about consistency - some even going as far as saying you should make sure your drawings have similar color pallettes so they look good on instagram. Mind you, I'm not talking about tips on how to follow a singular project - if you are making a comic or stuff, yeah, its better if your style and color palette are consistent and follow a pattern. I'm talking about growing on instagram and twitter and all this junk. The simple of idea of following this tip made me miserable and consider giving up on art all together. Seeing how these big artists I really admire laid out like this, and how this doesn't apply to them made me feel motivated and hopeful again. So, thank you for this video (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`)

The only good consistency is having a consistent posting schedule.
@emdove4 жыл бұрын
This tip in particular bothers me to no end. I understand the idea of a gallery that looks consistent and good as a whole, but that doesn’t mean that the colours have to follow a certain palette or that the style or topic has to be the same for every post. I’d much rather follow somebody who’s experimenting and has some different things in his feed than an artist that never changes. That’s just my preference, but it shows that such tips shouldn’t keep you from doing your own thing.
@emdove4 жыл бұрын
Plus, you shouldn’t be drawing specifically for your Instagram account (again, just my opinion). I found myself thinking about how the thing I was drawing at the time would look on my insta some time ago, and immediately noticed that my motivation was dwindling while I tried to make it fit the rest of my gallery. So I really dislike this tip aswell and completely agree.

I’m still super happy I’ve found your channel. You’re so calming, but straight to the point and great tips. Drawing has been something I’ve done since I was a young child and the last couple of years I thought I couldn’t draw anymore. I had pretty much given up drawing in general. After watching your videos, along with others, I realized I was still trying to draw the cutesy anime girls and that just wasn’t my style anymore. I had shifted to really trippy/indie inspired art and once I realized that I used your tip and compiled a Pinterest board of different artists and art styles that I loved and I’ve been able to figure out my style. Now I’m just working on improving. Most importantly I’m having fun again and no longer looking at the canvas for hours in frustration because I can’t bring myself to draw another anime girl lol. All this to say, have fun and be patient with yourself. Put yourself into your art, and don’t be afraid of your things not getting attention or selling because you’re not doing what you feel like you should be. Much love, and I wish you all successful art journeys 🙏🏽💕

I'm really glad to see this video. You said wise things about this subject and I approve your idea! Lately, I had stuggled about the fact that my art isn't... how can I say, "constantly the same", because I like to experiment new types of coloring and themes, because it's boring for me to do always the same thing. I like to learn new things. (I hope I wrote all this phrases in an understandable way, I'm not native english xD)

best advice i learnt about Artstyle. Artstyle is like your handwriting, as you learn to write your penmanship improves and slowly transforms as you go on in life. Artstyle is the same it will develop as you continue to practice and draw.

Hey Josh, I hope you will see this! I just was hoping you would put out a video on how to choose your art name/how to brand yourself? As in, using your real name vs choosing an online handle, how to choose a good and memorable name, etc! I don't think you have a video like this yet (I could be wrong) and it would be really interesting to get your perspective and advice on it. : )
