I love your statement " you don't have to marry a Thai person to enjoy Thailand " this is absolutely true. I know many women from Thailand, Isaan and non-Isaan ( just because you've mentioned it ) and of course if any foreigner says Isaan women are not good, this is a total proof he did not understand anything. I could not actually see a major difference, despite maybe the cliche' Isaan women are more white skinned and curvy LOL which I might agree with ( but there are exceptions there, too ). The "you marry a Thai woman you marry her entire family " is somewhat true, however there are also Thai women with no siblings being the only child ( we are in year 2022 now ), where family is really small, and also there are educated Thai ladies, single, where you need to have a good intellectual preparation to stand by her side. There are bad ladies too, but come on .... they are everywhere :) and bad guys too ( everywhere on the planet ). And sure, very true, if a Westerner relocates to Thailand he shall understand and learn Thai mindset and habits, and use it at his advantage = he must be accepted by the family, and be the husband. Then, or later, would the family or any member behave "not well" - it would be themselves to lose face. As usually people and families are quite networked ( and big gossipers ). So nobody wants their family to be gossiped about, in a bad way. I think if the Westerner brings good moral values and principles, he will be respected. And I fully agree, number 1 = speak the language and eat the food.

Most of them do not trust, but a few yes. This is not a hate speech but just honest opinion. Not all Thai woman are bad not all Thai woman are good. There is a strong tendency that Thai woman will use the marriage to gain financial advance for her family, mum, dad, sister, brother, and all the rest of. Again not all of them but a lot of them compare to other counties ladies. That is a fact !

I’m a foreigner living and working in Thailand. In my country, Italy, a Thai person even on tourist visa can buy farmland on their name or any kind of building. They are allowed to do any kind of job, being a farmer or a manager. If a Thai merry an Italian, after 3 years can apply for citizenship, without having to show even 1 baht, the only requirement is an intermediate level of proficiency of the language beside marriage certificate. Forget it in Thailand.
@DoubtingThomas333
@DoubtingThomas333 2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha you know what's funny about that, the language proficiency alone would exclude so many people. In Australia we have universities that hold English exams en masse for hordes of people, usually A LOT of Asians line up. So many fail at that for university education and whatever else, it would be good to include that for citizenship rights here.

Funny thing is, most Thai people don't even own the land they bought, they may have gotten a receipt in the form of a document of transfer of rights to occupation of the land but generally ownership deeds do not get issued for plots of land and can be hard to ascertain, as a result most of the land in Thailand is technically owned by the government.

As someone who has lived in Thailand for many decades and many many moons in the west I agree with every complaint made by the western man in the video to an extent. Let me tell you something about Thailand that westerners don't know. Thailand is made up of many ethnic groups; the people in the north (Chiang Mai, Chang Rai, etc.) originally came from Laos before Thailand became a country. Isaan is another region where some of its people came from Laos. However the people of Laos (the Laotians) do not consider the people of Isaan as one of their people. The Laotians say that the people of Isaan are remnants of the Cambodians who used to inhabit what is now Laos before they lost their empire to the Laotian people long ago. Thais also do not consider the people of Chiang Mai or Isaan as real Thais. Real Thais claim that the Isaan women are the bad ones and that most prostitutes came from these regions of Thailand but in my opinion they are all alike whether they are real Thais or not. Real Thais will try to blame other ethnic groups for the bad behaviors of women in their society but don't be fooled. Thailand 's nick name of "the land of smiles" is a misnomer. All westerner beware, they will smile at you but stab you in the back.

@@vassanab4243 I know my world history from college, you are the one who is ignorant and full of shit. When I say "came from Laos" what I meant was that the people of Chiang Mai is nothing but another group of people who belong to a group of people called Tai which includes Laotians of Laos but it does not include some people from the Isaan region. All the archaeologists in the west especially British archaeologists from Cambridge University strongly believe that the people of Chiang Mai are just another group of ancient Laotians who were taken by the Siamese empire. They have strong documented evidence that showed that the empire of Lan Na was just another empire created by people who used the same language as northern Laotian people. They call this family of language the Kra-Kadai language. Everyone who is not deaf or blind will know that the language used by the people of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai is over 90 percent identical to the language used by people in northern Laos and their cultures are very similar as well. No matter how much modern Thais try to erase history, archaeologists and anthropologists will call them out for lying and put them in their place.

All of the wife`s friends complain about their husbands and none of them will lift a finger to help (work) to support the family, but are more than willing ro spend 3,4,5 days/nights at the casino`s. The guys are VERY sucussful, but it does not matter, they constantly are back stabbing their husbands and for the most part, do not bring much to a marrage. I do know many in the US, 70+ and this is the same for the majority. My brother lives in Thailand, 32 years now and counting. He has divorced 2 Thais and has only girlfriends now, all NON Thais from here on. They believe they are as entilited as western woman, but are not as big of a narcissist as US born females.

Thanks Jim. Women in almost all countries hold large "institutional" & legal advantages over men. Men may work harder, smarter, stronger, and be of the more Romantic mindset (compared to women) .. but the institutional / legal advantages women hold means she can leverage the system to her benefit, threaten the well-being of the relationship, and wins whether the relationship survives her abuse or not... The problem is that western men have little to no idea what kind of problems, demands, heart-breaks, and destruction can happen, if she so chooses. And because of cultural & behavioral differences: they never see it coming. Keep your fingers crossed for my nephew ... he is going to need it!!

Just think about it , if a government lets people ( with money ) from anywhere just buy as much land as they wanted , then your country could be taken from you by the rich ! It depends on how you treat your significant other. What goes around comes around. I was told some western guys treat their Thai wives like a house maid and sex slave. If you do it that way, don’t expect she truely loves you.

7 year anniversary with my wife with two kids. She has a supportive and amazing family. Turn the critical eye to yourself and ask if you have your own priorities and life together before you bring somebody else into the equation. Are you an emotionally balanced and resilient person? Ask yourself if you are even a good judge of character of other people, especially women. If you can answer yes to all questions then you will not have an issue no matter what culture your significant other is from. My own relationship has taught me so much about different perspective and interpersonal relationships. I highly recommend everybody have an open mind and have a cross-cultural relationship. If you have the right mindset and are open minded (and not stubborn) - it is always a personal growth opportunity to explore, even if it doesn't result in marriage. It will make you a better person in the right context.

Great video...but most European countries' will allow a non citizen that is married to a citizen of that country full rights. Also they can start a company, buy land, cars etc without putting it their Husband's / Wife's name. If the marriage doesn't work out both parties are allowed 50% of the assets that was purchased in the marriage.

Disagree with you about treating people differently if they are not from your country. I would as a Hotel Manager for 26 years, 90% of my staff we not from Europe. I had staff from 27 different countries, even that I was their Manager, we were family. We shared holidays from everyone's country, it wasn't about where you are from, the colour of our skin or religion. It was about people coming to help each both at work and in life.

I really like hearing a different perspective, thank you. . I watch all channels with a filter. In my many trips to Thailand I have experienced first hand what the other guy said was somewhat accurate. . however I have also seen that some of what he said was not accurate. I think the guy on the other channel was really hurt by a Thai lady. That’s probably why he generalized a lot about Thai women? He seems to have been blessed with a wonderful Filapina lady so I am happy for him. I have met some wonderful Thai women. One of them introduced me to Buddhism which is a philosophy which has made me look at life differently and try to enjoy each day of my life. Each trip I have made to Thailand we visit a Temple. Buddhism has helped me get rid of a lot of negative baggage but I still have a ways to go. It’s a process. 🙏🏽

The Philippines is a little bit different than in Thailand. When a foreigner marries a Filipina, he will own at least 40% of the property with a house and lot, foreigner can fully own a condo. The other different is that when man marries a Filipina, there's no dowry.

Surprising? They know that China, Japan, and Western countries have been using Thailand as their brothel for decades, and are ashamed of its reputation as such. They know that 9/10 foreigners are only there to have sex with their daughters that are strapped for cash, and worse, the Thai economy is heavily dependent on that sex tourism. This is in huge conflict with the fact that Thai culture as a whole is very conservative. Of course there is going to be a lot of resentment where culturally alien foreigners that aren't abiding by local customs are all over the place, half of them drunk during the day, mongering for thai women.

I trust my Thai wife 100% but it wasn't without some caution a vetting first. My wife worked in a fancy restaurant. Some bargirls are good ladies but you're odds are worse, and the longer in that environment the worse those odds get. Anyway, if you're serious about marrying a Thai... Here's my post from his "Dowry" vid; I pay monthly $150 sinsot with the proviso that IF the economy collapses I'd need to suspend payments. In late 2009 after the economy collapsed, we suspended payments for a few months. I'm happy to help my wife's family and she is held in high esteem. I talked about it (negotiated) ahead of time without pressure from her wonderful family. I've paid bigger chunks to help the family but I volunteered and was never pressured by my wife. I paid for her Thai lawyer and made a prenup with a US attorney in Thailand- not expensive when compared to US legal fees. If you marry a woman with a degree who has never had a serious relationship you'll be expected to pay more. Weird but TIT. It does happen that foreigners marry wealthy Thai women and that costs even more or they may return the cash after a "money show", mai pen rai to them. We had a village ceremony which was priceless. Then had a formal governmental procedural wedding to legally formalize it for her visa. I'm happy to support my wife but she wanted to work after a while and did so. Since COVID she stopped working and I still work and pay her mom $150/mo with pride. It has been the best decision I've ever made, life is wonderful. We have never argued one time in 14 years of marriage. Her family is now my family.

Yep most definitely, we can trust Thai women in general anyway. My father's been happily married to a Thai for over 35 year's and most their friends within the New Zealand Thai community are also. All coming out here in the 80s and 90s. I've had Thai girlfriends at times which were not bad but just not right. But however I did marry a Phillipino, having a 5 yr relationship in total and it was over. She was not faithful in any shape or form. Not only that I also witnessed the awful scheming attitude and actions towards other kiwi husband's by their Phillipino wives which was far more common than not whilst in that community. Having a pretty good knowledge of both communities, and traveling to both countries numerous times, if you're looking for honesty and loyalty then Thai's are by far the best option in the quest for a life partner.

I can name you dozens of countries where a visitor can buy property and it be 100% secure in the buyers possession. It's a basic right in all British commonwealth countries which use the British legal system, bequeathed by the UK to its former colonies and which upholds individual property rights as sacrosanct . As I'm English I will start with: The UK, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Canada, Kenya, Zambia......... I l live in Thailand now and have a lovely girlfriend of 14 months. I wouldn't trust her as far as I could throw her. Thai women are dreadful at lying. I catch her out lying daily. But you have to take the rough with the smooth and know your adversary.

My Thai wife of 47 years is the nicest most loyal and hard working women you could ever meet. She is the just the best mother (we have two children, 38 and 42), mate and housekeeper. I consider myself to be one of the luckiest people in meeting and marrying her. As you might guess, this is the first and only marriage for both of us. Many of the Asian women we know from various countries in this region are also amongst the nicest people, and if you are patient, put in the groundwork, accept their culture and its nuances, you too can be very happy. They are an adaptable people and are as accepting of our ways as we should be of theirs.

In Sweden, a "foreigner" has the same rights as a Swede, and I think it is the same throughout the EU. But you can't buy a house or anything expensive anyway. You must be able to report where the money comes from. It is the same if you open a bank account, you must report where the money that goes into the account comes from and how much you calculate is deposited into the account every month. But Swedes have to do that too. It is a means of combating black and criminal money. There is a variant of it. If you win big money on, for example, horses, you can sell that winning lottery ticket for a much higher sum than it is worth, to criminals they need that lottery ticket to be able to report where the criminal money comes from if they are to buy an expensive car, for example. Yes, I think many of the men who go to Thailand and get a wife there have experienced marriages at home that created great disappointment for them. Wives who have become sour and angry or have been unfaithful. Or in other ways not been affectionate. But there are probably some hiding among those men who have not been so good themselves, for example wife abusers.
