I got so lucky! Since I've seen other videos that Kathy did about making plant milk, when I was at a 2nd hand store, and saw a Soyajoy G4 nutmilk maker, I knew what it was and got it for $15! I was worried that it might not work but it does! It heats and grinds. I've only made soymilk in it but it wil make soups and porridges too. We don't have a Trader Joe's in our town where I could buy soymilk at the best price. I used to buy 12 boxes at a time when I would be in a town or city with a Trader's. Now, I'm so psyched to make my own! Kathy, I have to thank you for educating us about the products you use, like the milk makers. I am so less intimidated by them now. You rock!

I just purchased the new Arcmira on Amazon, but the recipe book that came with it, was actually for the smaller machine. I looked on Amazon and was able download the correct recipe book for the new larger Arcmira. Example, the recipe book I received called for 3 spoons of nuts and the correct recipe book for the larger machine, calls for 5 spoons. Also, the new recipe book has a lot more recipes in it. So, it's too bad they put the old recipe book with the new milk maker. It was a bit confusing until I figured it out. Maybe this will help someone else out if they also receive the wrong recipe book.

Kathy, thanks for the comparisons. I have a miomat milk maker sat on my shelf, will get it out and try again. I made soya milk, it didn’t turn out right and I gave up. The milk tasted beany, put me off. I love these informative lectures, thanks. I love the sound of that tea, sound amazing, cannot get it in wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 xx

If it tasted beany to you, leave it after the first beeps and it will do a second cycle, that should fix it.

@@KathyHesterVeganRecipes I ordered two versions of the original smaller Arcmira - and got two different recipe books - same recipes, different cup sizes. Unfortunately, no indication which was the more recent version. Also unfortunately, the first one I ordered - identical to the one Kathy had - had problems moving through the dial settings. The second one (round, not oval dial) worked flawlessly for four months and then the dial started going bonkers. I was making soy milk. It would pre-heat correctly on HOT then started flipping around through the different settings and sometimes would settle on room temp setting. Amazon actually let me return it beyond the 30-day return period because I explained improperly cooked soymilk could cause illness. Sad to say, no more Arcmiras for me. I'm investing in a MioMat. My only concerns are whether I can use that much milk before it goes bad and whether it will be uncomfortably heavy to lift. Time will tell, I guess. Arcmira was slow to respond to my questions and complaints, and regardless of how clearly I posed my questions, they would just stall and ask for more info or pics (I actually sent video).

@@Tee-Catin You can freeze nondairy milk if you can't finish it in time and I would recommend just filling up to the min line. The miomat isn't very heavy, but the motor is larger, so it is heavier than the Arcmira.

Thank you, Kathy. Never thought of freezing the milk - what a great idea. Most mornings I make a matcha latte in my VitaMix with soy milk, Medjool dates, cinnamon and matcha powder.

Do you still like the Nutr? I’ve had their small version since they first came out, but ordered the updated same size. They had a problem getting parts so they sent me the 20 oz size which is nice, and stainless inside. BUT I really like this price point, so I’ll try this next time, I think.

I found the Nutr motor to not be as strong as the Arcmira, and it's less expensive. I am going to be trying out the larger sNutr as soon as it gets shipped to me.

Just FYI in case anyone has a Ninja Creami on their wish list, QVC has a Black Friday special price on the 7-in-1 machine for $179.98. It comes with a total of 5 pints. I think this is a good deal. They have only pink and purple left.

Darn I missed it! Sorry Kathy! My sisters family was here for my son’s bday 🎉 Also I am LOVING my Nama M1 🥰 way more than my Almond Cow (which I sold). I don’t make soy milk though. But I make every other milk. The M1 in CAD is $570. After delivery and tax it’s $675. But if you use one of the 10% discount codes out there it comes to $607 all in. So it’s an investment. I have had my Nama j2 juicer for two years and am very happy with it, and the company has great customer service. Plus 15 year all encompassing warranty cannot be beat.

The thing is, is that milk maker has a heat function which kills the nutrients of the nuts etc. Which is of course not a good thing. The only nuts that NEED to be heated are: Beech nuts & Soy Nuts You should try Namawell’s new Milk Machine. Nuts don’t need to be soaks with their machine and it only takes 1.45 minutes to make milk.

I drink soymilk a lot and like the idea of yet another kitchen gadget (disturbance in the force here) but I don't like all the brands of soymilk. I like Silk soymilk but not most others. I am not sure if I want to take the gamble yet.

Why wouldn't you just use your Vitamix? Seems silly to have another machine that really does the same thing.
@KathyHesterVeganRecipes
@KathyHesterVeganRecipes 12 күн бұрын
I use a milk maker mainly because I personally make soy milk, but with the variety of milk makers the preferences vary from not starining in some models, to heat for soy, etc. You can, of course, use your vitamix, but not everyone has one. I always travel with a small milk maker.
