Ever watch KZbin and wish you could be friends in real life? That's me everytime I watch your channel. I love watching you guys. I admire your marriage/communication. I know it's not perfect, you are people. But I admire how much Tom embraces your dreams and you just laugh and go with the flow when things don't go right on his projects. I found gather round this year too and had not pulled the trigger, but this may be the kick I needed.... I love watching you guys!

It's literally no good for you or your health. It causes mental health issues with people. I know one specifically. Also facebook is hackable and not safe to use now. So you're better off just using Google when you have a question. I never had an instagram but i remember when that came out. I'm actually very young but i don't see what everyone gets from all that crap. Idk about you but i have way more productive things to do than to sit on facebook on my phone. I also have 3 very little ones so time with them is more entertaining.

Tom is an introvert because he recharges by being away from people. The fact that he says people drain him clearly shows he’s an introvert. 😂 People think outgoing people are extroverts, but really it has more to do with how you get recharged. Extroverts recharge by being around people and introverts recharge by being alone. People always think I’m an extrovert, but I’m a total introvert. 😂
@MySomethingBeautifulLife

My dad is the same way. He can make friends everywhere he goes, but then when he gets out of public situations he just has to be alone for awhile to unwind. I'm similar in that I need alone time after being with people. And I have moments where I can be outgoing (like with friends), but mostly I'm socially awkward. Haha. I think my dad is just an introvert. But I'm an introvert and shy. It's an interesting balance.

I am much older than you and I became somewhat of a minimalist when I had to clean out my parents’ house. We had to get a dumpster because there were over a hundred plastic butter containers. So much time to throw all of that away. My mother also saved her styrofoam coffee cups...more than a hundred! I came home and went through every room and threw stuff away. My husband was quickly on board when he saw all the space. You are on the right track.

One thing we have to remember is that the older generation may have lived through the depression. Their motto was waste not, want not. Money was scarce and supplies were limited. My mom told me that her mother used to wash and save her aluminum foil. My mom did the same with ziplock bags. I just found that yucky. I agree that a hundred plastic butter containers is a bit much, but they were the original recyclers and found it hard to throw away anything that was still usable. One thing I do with my containers like that is take them to our church's kitchen. Sometimes they're needed to send leftover potluck food home with people.

As well as turning off the media kids want to spend time with you. My dad worked long hours and my mom had 6 of us to look after but spending time with us was always a priority. When my dad or mom were doing something we always got to help - even if this slowed things down. I know one board in our barn had 4000 nails hammered into it because my dad would just sit us down when we were little with a hammer and a bucket of nails. All of us (boys and girls) know about building and gardening and cooking. My brothers are great cooks and one of them is now canning loads of stuff with their kids. Thanks for this - love you guys. Even though I don’t share your faith, I still enjoy watching you and Diana, and our values are the same.

I just found you about two weeks ago and love what you do and how you bring your faith into it. Well done!! You inspired me to clean out my attic! Doing it right now. I too have a bottom drawer fridge that I didn’t know how to organize. So, I bought a few larger bins and stack them on top of each other in the drawer. One bin holds meats, the one on top holds something else. Once you figure out a system for yours, could be an idea for another segment! We aren’t the only ones with this problem.

Enjoyed your Q and A. Love your channel! Tom your projects always get done in a timely manner. My husband and I bought a small wooded lot and built a log cabin. It took us 10 years to complete!!! We laid all the logs ourselves but hired the roof to be done by a contractor. Quite the experience! Love living here now but not sure we would tackle it again knowing what we know now. My husband is still working on my upper kitchen cabinets. My husband does beautiful work so I have been willing to be patient. We both worked full time while building. But I really do love living our log home. So I truly enjoy viewing your journey together and seeing your family grow. Love Sundays with Diana and Dawn. I appreciate your sharing your faith. Oh, my goodness! “Tom really doesn’t like people...” I just found your channel...LOVE IT...feel like I’m listening to one of my sisters...then I watched some videos with you and your husband ... and I laughed out loud when you said that Tom really doesn’t like people because my husband is the same way! I also chuckled when you described the tray on the top of your fridge and using black garbage bags to throw things away. I find myself doing the same things for similar reasons. Thanks for sharing your videos. I love the idea of being a minimalist and was inspired to declutter my kitchen after watching a few. Hope you and your family are well and enjoying the holidays! From a fellow Minnesotan☺️

Thank you so much for mentioning Gather 'Round Homeschool curriculum. We never would have been introduced to it otherwise. We're Homeschooling for the first time this year and after checking it out online decided to adopt it as out curriculum this year. We really enjoy your channel and look forward to see how you implement Minimalist Homeschooling.

I homeschooled for a few years. I love the concept and truly believe it is good, especially in today's crazy culture. I wish I had stuck with it. I did not have support and actually had grandparents undermining my efforts which made it nearly impossible - I regret caving into that.

We did our own geothermal system 2 years ago. It’s wonderful. We went through a company in Kentucky and got the system for a fraction of the cost. Ingrams Water and Air Equipment. Great customer service. It was a lot of work but for the money we saved, it was worth it. My husband (an electrical engineer) also bought the book: “Ground Source Heat Pump Residential and Light Commercial Design and Installation Guide”. He has even helped a friend figure out what he needed for his system.

So now another is really enjoying it, i named it Timber. I have been slowly down sizing kitchen & bathroom, after finding your videos

Loved the video and can't wait to hear about the trip and see more of the camper. When Tom talked about sleepless nights over the big mortgage when you were buying your house it took me back 30 years. We agreed to buy our next house before our current house sold. 😟 He didn't tell me until much later but he was so worried we would have 2 mortgages that he took the dog for a walk after dinner every night and throw up in s different neighbor's bushes! Fortunately we sold our house just before closing on the next one. Whew!! 😄

Andrea Kurilla at the beginning of Covid I ordered 12-13 matching albums. I’ve had this frog so long he’s more like a dragon/sea monster.since our family was active duty for 20+ years I’ve divided pictures by duty station. So far I’m just removing dude and duplicates. Ideally I’d love to have them all in chronological order, but now that I’ve started that’s a lower priority. I may just leave them helter-Skelter and put my time and effort into writing stories about some favorites or meaningful high points.

I'm totally with Dawn on the house temp!! That made me laugh!! Sounds heavenly. I was told not to set the AC at less than 65 so I've settled at 66 almost year round. Occasionally I bump it up to take the chill out in the dead of our Minnesota winters but not often. 🥶❄☃️ I didn't get to watch live, but it was definitely a nice hour to relax after work tonight so thanks for that! I wish I had caught the live! So close. This week of online academy kicked mu bootie. I have the same homeschool curriculum (month 1) ready to go just in case (Dh wanted to try online before going to homeschool). We have 4 same ages as yours and I imagine being able to do just that - learn then do/see/experience. I think same thing. This is why I haven't taken my kids camping even though we got an amazing tent. I totally imagine all those horrors. This video is a treat after a rough week. Thanks for the joy it brought this tired mom.

Can you do a video on balancing minimalism with frugality and saving money? Our family has moved a lot, which pretty much forces minimalism, but I feel that over the years, there are many things I have had to rebuy because I got rid of them, or there have been things I hung on to and used a few years later and having that item actually DID save us money. I've been on a mission to save money and build up savings (and our oldest will be going to college in Jan) and for us, all those little purchases do make a significant financial difference. I feel like we are naturally pretty minimal and don't buy a lot of stuff and I hate clutter, so have no problem getting rid of kids toys and things like that, but there are also lots of things that I DO end up using again or needing to re-buy (sometimes even two or more years later) and I feel like those purchases do add up. As an example, I have 5 kids, so as I was having kids, I felt like I moved through wardrobes from early pregnancy to late pregnancy to postpartum to breastfeeding, to longer term breastfeeding to weaning, back to pregnancy, etc and my body was always changing and different clothes would work at different stages. Having clothing stored away that used to fit and I liked and felt good in at that stage in life, that I could pull out again when I was in that stage again, did save money and time.

I’m with you Dawn....don’t like the French door fridge; the lower untidy freezer and the stainless steel. But they’re the only fridge that has split shelves instead of bench shelves which I hate even more. Like your hubby, mine likes the higher fridge. An Australian couple who camped in a similar pull out camper had their infant dragged out of it in the night by a dingo. So....Tom has a good instinct about that set up. ( thankfully, the infant was rescued and survived) Our dogs were all outdoor pets and they preferred it. Wondered if there was Danish in Tom’s family?
