Currently the hardest gameplay I can think of is for full expert, your bonus being increased suspicion drain (since it’s situational), and your malus being reduced crit chance. Then go region locked and only use 1 unit. And last but not least Ironman saves and hidden turn order.

pay is during the rest after a certain amount of time, so longer time between rests puts off payment for a bit but doesn't reduce the amount of pay you give out overall. it may feel that way because you can put off pay for a bit when it is due, but you don't actually pay less in the end.
@clydian
@clydian Жыл бұрын
Pay is every 3 rests, increasing the amount of time between rests still reduces how often you need to pay and thus in comparison to a group without that selection, has a stronger economy due to not having to pay wages as frequently.
@jamoecw
@jamoecw Жыл бұрын
@@clydian one of the loading screens states that wages are every 4 days. the tool tip says it is every 3 rests. if you rest back to back the third rest will result in paying wages, even though only about a day has passed. if you stack delicious culture shock plus the other 40 food item that uses apple pie, plus the perch stew that lets you rest less, plus the banner ability, plus the starting ability, etc. you can make it so that you rest only about twice in 4 days and you will pay wages on the second rest if you push thing long enough, resulting in a sort of soft cap to how much you can push off wages. i don't know why they have both, it seems that the 3 rests thing is a bit much, since if you are resting that much you are also eating a ton of food as well, and that will cost you a bunch (which is just one reason to push things as much as you can).

what is the correct path to go for region locked? I started on Tilten maybe from 1 to 3 or 4 then went to gosenburg got to almost 5-6 there then tried to go to darmbakh but I saw the guards at border to be lvl 11! panicked and ran back. in the end went back to Harag where everybody were lvl 7-8 it was VERY challenging. but I managed to complete the story and the arena. now I have a party of 20-25 most lvl 6-7 ish. I can't go to Dormbakh or whatever. Edoranian is lvl 1. I just found out there's another region top of gosenburg which is lvl 3-4 and I'm trying there. What should I do? Too late! I already started playing Wartales, a few weeks before 1.0 release and we’ll before this video. Thankfully, I was able to cope, albeit with a learning curve. The profession bonuses have been significantly increased since Early Access, which is a good decision, as they now offer more than token benefits- especially welcome since enemies have become tougher overall and weapons have been nerfed.

@wyomingsioux
@wyomingsioux Жыл бұрын
@@clydian more relevant to the content of this video, I would add that I am now 250+ hours on the same run that I started in Early Access. The default settings at that time were Adaptive difficulty (previously called Free Roam), so I just went with that. There is a common perception that this difficulty mode is more challenging overall than Region-locked but your video does a good job of providing a more nuanced comparison. The big issue with Adaptive is that, at some point, you are actually incentivized not to expand your party, as the AI will just churn out enemies to match or exceed your numbers. This response becomes especially challenging if you happen to capture animals without much combat value but which are deployable (e.g. boars). I learned this the hard way when I recently captured 5 boars, with the intent to fatten and slaughter them. They pushed my troop number to 18. In the meantime, I decided to explore the Vertruse ruins. Because I now had such a sizeable party, the AI sent a flood of Creepers and Mole Rats against me- up to 30 per battle. And at level 10 (one level higher than my troops), they hit for 40 to 50 damage. After barely surviving this experience, I vowed to never again bring a large party into tombs.
@clydian
@clydian Жыл бұрын
@@wyomingsioux I swear I sometimes know what I’m talking about 😅 That’s the main thing with adaptive, if you want a big army but still want a challenge, that’s the way to go. If you’re not planning on expanding then it may be better to do region locked as it’s still ‘hard’ but not in a ‘we’re going to always be half a step ahead of you’ way

After playing 40 hours in region-locked mode I think I would have preferred to go adaptive. The downsides I noticed so far in region locked: - Gear: Armor I can craft and specialise with layers, but I am really missing weapon skills. Crafted bows all have the shot skill that doesn't have any utility. I prefer to get one with the flaming arrow or vicious shot skill of those I've seen so far. Same for maces... the pound skill is ok, but useless against animals and low armor targets, I am currently using a mace that doubles my guard and another one that has multiple hits until it applies fever. The only crafted weapons I use are the crit dagger and the bleed axe. (I don't have any legendary weapons so far, didn't do any tombs) - Specialisations: Unlocking new specialisations is locked behind arena battles in high level regions so you will only unlock them when your game is nearly done. - Recipes, blueprints: Unlocking new recipes for cooking is not that important, but there are a lot of blueprints that can totally change your playstyle (armor layers, belt accessories, camp equipment etc.) - Resources: Something like sandstone is hard to come by to upgrade camp equipment for example. Cloth was really scarce in Tiltren but I got a good amount in Vertruse (2 vendors that sell it). - Exploring / Completing regions: I went exploring in Tiltren, found the passage to Ludern, fled from a bunch of high level mobs, used a piton to get around the border gate and ended up in Vertruse Doing some questing and material farming there (was level 4 when arriving). Now I am in Grinmeer where everything can kill me and just go around, running from mobs while collecting resources and blueprints / recipes from location / vendors. Skipped half of Tiltren, never been to Arthes and will probably never go back because all is too low level now (except tombs, boss + arena). I am really thinking about restarting in Adaptive with all the knowledge I have now... I would do a lot of stuff differently... do you think the problems I have with region-locked would be better/solved in adaptive? Like I descripted, I went to Vertruse with lvl 4 and fought mostly lvl 5 groups bigger than me and that worked out quite well. How fast is adaptive "adapting"? Could I put 6 of my 8 man party to guard my tradepost and go exploring with 2 dudes and the game would scale down (maybe after rest / quick travel from trade post?).
@clydian
@clydian Жыл бұрын
Adaptive will address all of your issues while attempting to maintain a set ‘medium’ difficulty. It’s the ‘better’ option for people who don’t 100% complete regions when they’re in them and want to freely roam around. It’s also the better option for people who want large armies as well :) As for gear and everything, I actually enjoy region locked for those reasons because it forces you to utilize crafted weapons for a mid-region power boost over just finding one. It gives crafting a purpose to be honest. As for recipes I agree but if all the super good recipes were to be found in the beginning then you’d never use anything else ;)
@jeggred8611
@jeggred8611 Жыл бұрын
@@clydian Thanks for the quick answer. I think I will try to do a restart on adaptive and see how it goes... Regarding crafting... I like what they did with armor. You have three upgrade slots and can put in the stats you need. One of your guys got bad rolls with movement and the armor gives -2? Just add movement layers or the one that negates the -2 movement from heavy armor. You want to be extra tanky? Add guard. Why so restrictive with crafted weapons? Weapon skills can make or break your game and testing different weapon skills is the most fun besides testing different class builds for me. When I took a look at Grinmeer while dodging enemy with my lvl 4-5 group, I found a merchant that sold a bow that has a shot that creates a fire in an area... but it required level 8 which is days of playing away. I would have loved to buy it and experiment with it. I am still using lvl 2 weapons with lvl 5 chars, because the skills are so powerful/useful (double your guard on a tank for example). Crafted weapons force you into a certain playstyle and that's not something I enjoy at the moment.
@clydian
@clydian Жыл бұрын
@@jeggred8611 unfortunately you’re preaching to the choir here. I’m not a huge fan of crafted weapons and don’t use them unless I’m forced to (like in region locked) Thankfully oils give players the ability to customize their weapons a bit but it’s still not quite there. I hope Shiro games expands upon weapon crafting in the future because it’s definitely lackluster.
