Don't want to Skimp here, Preparing concrete base for new building

Today we prep for the concrete in the new building and and in front of it using the Kubota BX 23S and Harbor Freight Plate Compactor. We used both 2a limestone and 2b limestone to make a good bas to pour concrete on.

I watch in amazement as Mike finesses his beloved Kubota equipment. Seeing him on the BX evenly spreading rock inside the building just made me shake my head... "GEEZ! How can he do that?" Clearly, he is some kind of magician with the controls! What a beautiful new granddaughter. You guys are blessed! Thanks for sharing your lives with all us viewers! Don't know where you find all your energy! Mike, I hope some day you get to visit Australia and post some videos of that experience. In the 80's I traveled for work to the Philippines, Malaysia and then Hawaii on the way back. During that trip I met a number of fun-loving Aussies and have always had an urge to visit there...

Hello Morgans from Missouri. It is a balmy 49 degrees this morning. Suppose to get up to 63 degrees today. I finished mowing my yard yesterday, but the ground was still very wet. I started a walking regiment a couple weeks ago. Guess Melissa has inspired me. Today, I need to sharpen all my mower blades, then spend the rest of the day with family. Here in eastern Ontario Canada (in fact, across most of Ontario) we are in the midst of a significant drought. Much of the local field crop hasn’t germinated, and what has is stunted. Ah Australia. I led motorcyclists on local rides here in central PA. One guy came from Melborne, Australia a few years back. We stopped at a bar restaurant for lunch and I introduced him to the owner of the establishment. They had a conversation going and the owner asked the Aussie if they got the same TV shows we got here. The Aussie answered back in his best accent, "Yes, but they're all upside down." It's a good thing I didn't have a mouthful of French fries or I would have choked on them at that point as we all erupted in loud laughter, with the rest of the patrons probably wondering what was just said.

You will love the floor heat. We heat about 4500 sq. ft. with it using a Hardy out side wood stove. Quite even heat and no dust.

No need for a vapor barrier under the slab. He will have the foam under the crete. Water is not going to come on top of the hill. Condensation will form on a cold slab with hot humid weather. But all in all plastic sheeting is inexpensive.

The upside of the cool wet weather is that the delay in the pool installation seems less annoying… Pools seem to disappoint… My neighbor was opening his above ground pool about two weeks ago. While tightening the seal around the filter return fitting the pool burst and knocked him into the chainlink fence. Fortunately he wasn’t hurt badly but the fence poles were bent over and the water rushed through my yard and three others.
