In this video, learn how to make a slat wall and save money at the same time. I'll guide you step by step and show you the tools and materials I used. In addition, I provide a breakdown of the costs. This video is part of a series called "Building My Dream KZbin Studio," where I build things like my standing Desk and a popular style Desk Shelf.

😂😂😂😂 in my defense I already owned most of this stuff and it’s much cheaper compared to panels that are $250 each

I was thinking that table saw is now well over $800. I suppose if you have all the tools that wall is doable, but that wall isn't cheap for the average person.

It’s either gonna be $2k buying slats premade or $2k in labor and time and tools - it’s same price either way.

Not necessarily, you don’t have to use 80% of the tools I used. Tools just make the process faster. A hammer, small nails and a hand corsage from Walmart plus materials. You could do everything for roughly $150.

What about the soundproofing part?
@PablosPOV
@PablosPOV 6 күн бұрын
While it does help with echos,This particular build version isn’t for soundproofing because I chose to create the black spaces with paint. But there is a soundproof fabric backing that could be substituted instead of paint.

How do you prevent the slats from bowing/warping over time?

First, thanks for commenting! 2nd, I get that, in life if anything you want costs either sweat or cash. When you build it yourself you have a different pride in the finished product.

Is there a way I could install these in my basement on brick walls🤔🤔🤔

If you do a backing for a segment (say 4ft of walls) and then screw, glue, attach to brick wall. You could do what he does and get a how to Al price of wood that is secured to the wall so that each section can simple attach to that wooden strip. Something like a 1x4
@PablosPOV

Also they have wood and nails that are made for concrete. So you’d just change out the furring strips for pressure treated strips and attach with glue or nails rated for concrete.

I'm gonna do this and have been watching KZbin for ideas. You are the first person I saw add the horizontal wood strips. Great idea! Most of these DIYers just nail it to the dry wall with no adhesive, which I didn't like. The horizontal strips ensure you are hitting studs and have something sturdy to attach to. How many did you use, and what thickness? 1/4"?
@PablosPOV
@PablosPOV 4 ай бұрын
You definitely should do it!! And yea gluing straight to drywall is gonna ruin the wall AND be super not sturdy lol. I’m pretty sure I used 1/4” furing strips. When you build it send me some pics, I’d love to see how it turns out! Hey!! I definitely get that, in the full version I explained my thinking… but fundamentally you can do this with a $30 circular saw from Walmart and a $60 nailer. Compared to wall panels this is MUCH cheaper!
