I used to worry deeply about what is going on in the people’s head about me, but I realized that you cannot achieve your dreams as long as you live in fear of people's opinions and trying to please everyone is stupidity and delusion,but that way of thinking doesn’t mean that you have to hate people and don’t always listen to their opinions.. but you should accept all people despite their differences and their backgrounds because being successful is something and being kind is something else,That was the most important lesson that i learned in 2019

Not caring what other people think is the ultimate freedom, but you have to at least control what you WANT other people to think of you and keep your businesses on the down low. As you are dependent on other people to get where you want to be in life, simply not caring what other people think, saying whatever is on your mind and acting a fool will get you no where. That's just reality.

Wayne Green From someone who is 50 and learned things the hard way, I'd say: Don't get into debt; start saving early; if you find someone isn't respectful to you, realize they are not your friend, and it's ok to move away from them, don't waste your time and energy trying to change them; you can't change others, only yourself; say yes to new opportunities, don't be afraid, you can always walk away if it is not for you; take care of your health when you are young, exercise daily and eat as best as you can. Accept yourself for who you are, forgive yourself for any "bad" decisions you may have made and move on. Be honest and direct with people or some will take advantage. That's all I can think of for now. Hopefully you can avoid making unnecessary mistakes and spend more of your time living and enjoying your life. You'll still have your own lessons to learn - that can't and shouldn't be avoided.

On another note I remember when I was 14 years old and this skater boy at the skate park I was sitting at, he was an older one, he was like 18 or 19. Really cute, freckles with a massive white boy ginger afro. Basically one of the cool kids. He came up like "hey' what's your name", he was talking to me. His name was willie. He wasn't being a creep or anything, he saw i was kind of flirting with a guy who was more my age. When I told him my name, he looked at the guy I was talking to (Jeff, who later on became my boyfriend that year and we had sex to 9 inch nails up above it....lol let's just say he was having a lot of fun with that chorus), and he said right in front of me, horrifyingly "she's cute until she's opens up her mouth! Haaaaah!" Round of applause from all the cute skater boys surrounding including a huge chuckle from my buddy Jeff. To this day I'm still really devastated by that comment. This was before I got braces. I'm still struggling to determine if he meant open up my mouth so he could see my teeth and how crooked my smile is due to my asymmetrical facial features or until I start talking and he could hear my monotonous voice and didn't like it. I don't know. This happened in 1994 and I still stress out about it frequently. the irony is Willie became a hardcore meth junkie and he shoots up and he looks like shit. He is literally missing teeth and he's a shell of a human being. It's really sad. On the other hand, not to toot my own horn, I'm kind of like a swan or whatever. LOL yesterday this guy that I like said I have a butt that's going to keep on getting bigger until I'm an old lady and it made me laugh. my butt is like three times thicker than it was when I was 20 and I'm only 42. 🤣 I just replied well at least working out has been building something outta nothing over all these years!

This truth actually changed my life. I was highly anxious and introverted all the way through to high school "about 17 years old" always worried about what others think. This lead me to never approach anyone for anything. I never joined in on conversations had any girlfriends or even friends. But after realising that no one cared about anything. That I would be just a footnote in a memorie they were bound to forget. That nothing I do in casual day to day life would be remembered or written down. I realised that my issues talking, always thinking I would make a fool of myself, just disappeared and now I can talk freely to anyone anytime with a senserity I don't see often. I've flipped from a hopeless stressed introvert into an extroverted outgoing carefree guy. Honestly I'm happier than I have been my whole life thanks to this change. But I like to pair this with another philosophy. That is, don't attribute to malice what can be explained through ignorance and indifference. Always believe that everyone isn't actively trying to spite you. Give them the benefit of the doubt and because nothing matters just let it go. When you believe that no one cares about you you can realise that no one is targeting you and just accept that when someone does something bad or gets upset with you its not because of you its them dealing with there own issues and you should just let it go

It was either in junior or senior year of high school that I asked a girl with whom I went to elementary school if she remembered me crying all the time. She said no. Huh.

Samee. I realized this when I was 16. In school I would constantly worry what others might think of me to the point that everything was centered around to please others and it took alot of energy As in I wanted to feel superior. I had a fake persona. Then at 16 i realized that whatever you do ppl might barely think of you for 1 second which is not worth the effort.

I'm a highly sympathetic person and as such I care a lot about other people, more so than about myself. So, using myself as an example, as the video advises, is not a good idea in my case. I've been struggling with loneliness, anxiety and depressive episodes ever since high school. I am now 30 and I'm slowly beginning to realize that most people are just so self-centered and so caught up in their own lives that it doesn't even cross their mind to think about me, including those I consider my friends. It's always me who writes first to check on people, always me who tries to organize meet-ups. I once decided to stop trying and see what would happen. For over two weeks the only living person who contacted me was my mother. The conclusion I reached: most humans are selfish and petty, and I shouldn't bother myself looking for their attention. Cynical and ironic, I know.
@agenericboringhomosapien81088 ай бұрын
same omg. I have also come to terms with the fact that people dont care about me at all as compared to how much they care about their own life. People are never gonna put others needs above their owns like i do, that others are never gonna receprocate how i do with them. It's difficult when you can feel how others would be feeling and their sadness and happiness too. Its natural to compromise our own wellbeing for the sake of others when its more painful to see someone suffering than when we are suffering ourselves. It took 20 yrs of my life to learn this. I feel now that it was only me who got hurt in the process of caring too of others and rather should spend time on my own self, and its the only kind of reciprocation that i will ever get. Because at the end of the day i accepted the fact that people dont feel my feelings,the way i feel theirs.

So where that thought come from? I confirm what I was thinking, the guy thinks of me and his instincts are to put me down, he made a mistake, what a person writes are his thought, it is difficult to falsify.

Your ex-peers are much more likely to remember something embarrassing they said or did. My friend is going through some stuff mentally at the moment and honestly I think she is making matters way worse for herself by thinking that other people care that much. Thanks a lot. I've been bullied a lot in my youth and I never thought it really caused anything in my later years but I have started to recognize that it has actually led to a 'below the radar' low self esteem, insecurity and fear of what others might think of me when I do something. It has indeed sparked an incredibly high sense of self-awareness because I had to be careful of every step I took when I was young. Everyone was constantly focusing on me in my childhood, especially the bullies in my class. This has led to me growing up with the feeling that I'm always being watched and it's making my life difficult at times. To add to that, my mother always makes remarks about me, boosting my self-awareness even more. Example: I have a great day, I'm feeling good, totally living in the moment and being a connective human being without too much self-awareness about how I look or come across. The people I run into smile at me, we make good conversations and it all feels supernatural. But then, I drop in at my parents and my mom starts talking about my hair: 'Hmm, your hair looks very greasy from the backside, shouldn't you wash it? You look like a fool.' Now, first of all, my hair doesn't look greasy at all, it's only her not seeing my hair is still a bit damp from the shower I had earlier. But the worst thing is that even though I know it's not true, she has now focused on me and is causing me to fall into some pit where I can only sink lower and lower and when I walk into town I feel increasingly self aware afraid that other people will think my hair looks greasy and I am unable to continue my way through town because it sucks up my energy. I have told her how this makes me feel and what kind of effect it has on me. I cannot completely let it go, it's been a part of me for so long, but I'm working on it. I have ditched friends who made me self aware and I actively throw people out of my life that focus on me specifically when it comes down to small details. But this again is being taken to the extremes for now I am even breaking up friendships with a whole group because a few people commented on my behaviour a few times at moments when I felt super free. For example when I was dancing at a party in a way I want to feel and not caring about how it looks (it looked good though, I'm a good dancer). If people comment on me feeling free and happy, then I do not need them, but I also don't need the people that they hang out with. So it kind of spreads like a cancer and now I'm at the point where I just spend Newyears alone because I'd rather be with myself than be with people who I feel don't care for me feeling good and free. I'm almost 36 now and I hope that this year I learn to connect with others in a healthier way, this video is again a wake up call for me, thanks for all these insights and confirming my thoughts and feelings.

This year I’m challenging myself to step out of the shadow and regain my confidence little by little, and am slowly realizing that people don’t care much. Yet, my perfectionism and trauma make me rebound at times... it’s rough but we will little by little make little triumphs that we should be proud of.

This idea hit me not very long ago. I used to be very self-conscious but then I realized that I was to others as others are to me.

I love this. So many people need to watch this. A lot of people think that others are always watching and judging them. So they try to act "normal".

I kind of had this same realization a few years back. It really blew my mind and it helps with anxiety. I have a few people arround me that care (husband, children, best friend) other then that - no one cares enogh to be bothered with you, for real, they don’t. It’s amazing once you embrace that.
@hajikero18345 жыл бұрын
I think I can embrace the idea of ppl not caring as much as I think as a great thing. It means I can continue to be unapologeticly me, flaws, f-ck ups, bad hair days, high pitched tones and all- and no one will care is much as I do. The spotlight effect is only in my mind. It gives me room to grow at my own pace, in my own time, free of judgement because- ppl really don’t care as much as you think! “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind” - Dr Seuss :)

The interesting thing about what you said, is that you actually have a spotlight in your head where you feel others may be looking at you or judging you?
@oseghaleokoyomon69213 жыл бұрын
No one cares or to be more precise no one cares as much as we think they do unless they actually have a vested interest in us. People are way too apathetic and self absorbed these days yo, so do you...as long as you’re not hurting yourself or someone else, just keep doing you!!

The beginning of the video reminded me of a poem I wrote about 2 years ago, thought I’d share :) ~Only when we are born~ Only when we are born are we praised for failure Attempting to stand is a noble feat Speech is an adorable acquisition Shapes are mountains to be conquered bravely In these moments laughter is more than a past time To pass time is merely a question to be answered for later Only when we are born can we fully bathe in the light of the world Only when we are born, are we truly happy

The beauty in nobody caring, is you don't care about nobody caring. Imagine how many ppl you took for granted in your life, not bc you are bad or wtv but because that is life, my friend, we cannot care about every single person on the planet :)

My feeling is that we live in too cold and indifferent a world. We have definitely lost the perception of society as a community, a feeling that had not thoroughly disappeared some decades ago, yet. I think it's more than good minding our own business by avoiding gossip on one side, but I also believe that as a society we should care more authentically for other people's problems on the other side.
@biaora2 жыл бұрын
That's a deep and noble thought, not many people realise this absence of community and fellow feeling in what is essentially a competitive world where someone's loss is another's gain

This is such a negative, horrible video. I don't believe people don't care. Just look at all the people who donate to others in need even if they don't know them. Or people who help one another for no specific reason. Sad video to put on the internet. Imo

@@jenniferlawrence9473 It's not that people don't care in the sense they are selfish or not kind, this video is talking about the illusion that people are more focused on you than they really are. It's the 'main character' effect that we all have to some degree, where we worry what people think about this or that when we are walking in public when you are just another stranger on the street. They don't care about slight changes in your hair, or if you are making a change in your life because they have their own life to worry about.

'we should not merely suffer because of other's indifference, but -where it matters- reciprocate it'. I really am in favour of this kind of view. Also, what you said about success, is ironic and absolutely true. ''In our early days we fancy that the leading events in our life, and the persons who are going to play an important part in it, will make their entrance to the sound of drums and trumpets; but when, in old age, we look back, we find that they all came in quite quietly, slipped in, as it were, by the side-door, almost unnoticed.'' -Schopenhauer
