This is part 4 in the series explaining the scientific principles of sine wave motion where In this video I explain the body doesn't always drop on the 1st stage of sine wave motion.
There will be many more videos in this series of sine wave motion. Topics will include: How to perform correct sine wave, how it helps Taekwon-Do techniques be more aesthetic, efficient and powerful.

Disclaimer :
I recognise Grand Master General Choi Hong Hi as the true authority on Taekwon-Do. The information in my videos is based on my interpretation of Taekwon-Do as taught to me by the Founder General Choi Hong Hi and as referred to in his book ‘TAEKWON-DO’ (5th Edition 1999) Published by ITF and printed in Canada.
Other Taekwon-Do Masters and Grand Masters may have a different interpretation of Taekwon-Do theory and practice, so if you are a Taekwon-Do student, it is important to check with your instructor if you are not sure about which interpretation you should be following.

These videos are high quality, clear, and detailed resource for ITF Taekwon-do practitioners everywhere. Not many years ago one would have to travel far, or be lucky enough to attend a nearby seminar, to even scratch the surface on these topics with a Grand Master. Very much appreciated! Regards from Canada!

This is possibly the most clear summary of the purpose behind sine wave (especially the final description of relax and balance, up down). Many thanks Sir.

Your name is not found in ICMAUA. Why is that? Legs straight during a fight? This facilitate a trow for me and make you go slower.

Why should I be listed in ICMAUA? I am a member of the Intetnational Taekwon-Do Federation. Ideally you should not stand with your legs straight during combat. In Taekwon-Do we do have some stances standing upright with straight legs which are used in rare occasions. For example, in a crowded area or when retreating from a longer stance. These stances are adopted fpr a brief moment whilst performing a technique and are never used when the opponent is in a good position to throw you.

Why would the founder of the style introduce this wave thing at the end of his life? This is not much of a sine wave anymore.

You obviously haven't done your research. The addition of sine-wave training into the TKD curriculum was a good one, but it was also controversial, as Gen. Choi's original patterns pre 1990 did not have sine-wave. I teach the ITF curriculum with sine-wave (20 years plus) because it generates more power than if the hips and body were to be stiff, or standing straight, like in karate and WT Taekwondo ? The sine-wave training is also a transferable skill, and useful for the purposes of Hapkido (throwing), as well as the elements of boxing (punching) and even ground fighting. The whipping motion of the body during sinewave and the utilization of knee spring, makes each technique much more powerful and effective.
