The sad part of it all is how so many negative people forgot that he made this video, which helps plenty of us...and he did it on his time for free. Some of you clowns appear to be jealous of his skills--he clearly is a superb athlete. Lighten up, learn something from Barrett... or simply take your foolish ways down the block.

I have been training kicks for a few years, this guys balance, flexibility and foot control is top notch. I see quite a few comments saying there is no power, this video is about balance and foot control. I even see some comments saying this is fake lol?? People who are talking all that jazz are clearly haters and know nothing about kicking. If you want to been an elite kicker, balance, foot control, flexibility and technique are key components.

I spent many years trying to build good kicks but could never get knee height like that which of course, you need for a good high kick. I still love to see a side or round kick in controlled execution like that. A great kicker has an advantage since not many people expect to be kicked in the head especially at close distance. Awesome demo and keep up the training.

Hey Donovan. Nice video as always. Was just wondering did you ever do gymnastics? What do you think of it? I'm looking into taking a class because I don't feel I'm making much progress by myself.
@donavantkd
@donavantkd 6 жыл бұрын
I've never done gymnastics but if it's something you're passionate about I definitely think you should take classes! You can learn a lot on your own these days but there's still something to be said for having a teacher there that can actually critique you. I've learned so much of my skills on my own but things would've gone so much faster if I had someone to tell me exactly how to do things and fix my errors rather than me having to figure them out for myself!

Hi. This will be a long one, and I apologize for some anatomy talk. When you do a high side kick, you're essentially entering a side split position, right? Because of their anatomy, some people need to do an anterior pelvic tilt (they stick their butt out and arch their low back) to get into a side split position. This position works if their hips are internally rotated. Do you also do the same to get a high side split? I noticed your butt is out and your low back is arched, but I don't know if it's just your habit or if you consciously do it for thr technique

@donavantkd

Well...try not to look at it as a "requirement". Do you HAVE to have splits to do a decent kick? The answer is no. But it's an opportunity... If you have splits, your kicks will be stronger, faster, easier, and more powerful...so why not go after them? Hope this helps! Keep training hard!
