A request for a couple more videos in this vein. Darker skin tones and female skin tones…especially a nice soft blend from highlights into shadows. Glazing down. The confusion starts when people or companies give practically the same technique a different name. Like "shade" for glazing down... or "contrast" for "glaze paints". ☺️🎨🎨🎨

I was just looking at the transparent paints, have been trying your "glaring" method. Still trying to master that method, I do see the advantage of glazing right of the start over heavy base coat. Great video.
@DonSuratos2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jacob! Note that you do not need to add medium to transparent paints, I just like adding mediums to "dip my toe" so to speak and see the initial result first. But these transparent paints are very versatile. More versatile than inks actually. ☺️

I've used Pro Acryl transparents, inks, And contrast paints and using color glazes over a zenithal is great! I haven't used Vallejo, but assume they're great as well. Also, this method with an airbrush is also amazing if you have one.

You think that Vallejo airbrush thinner can be used the same way as you're using the Vallejo thinner medium here ? Airbrush thinner is available to me without ordering it.
@DonSuratos2 жыл бұрын
The Airbrush thinner dissolves the paint better than water, but I am using a watered down Retarder Medium here that is way more effective than flow improver and thinner. It is summer here in the Philippines, thus everything dries faster... The watered down Retarder Medium is working like a charm. ☺️

Yet another great video. Appreciate it. Curious - what are the basic components in Vallejo Thinner Medium? I wonder if you could DIY something using a high quality Matte Medium and save a few bucks making a batch...?
@DonSuratos2 жыл бұрын
Ah... a cheaper alternative would be the Vallejo "Fine Arts" acrylic mediums. They come in 500 ml and 1 liter bottles. They are as good... but you can get them at Art shops. Cheers bro. ☺️🎨🎨🎨

How much would you say you load the brush when glazing, and when you apply it, are you going over areas based on how much color you want to remain? My problem most times is that I feel like I load too much paint, and then when applying the paint it pools up in places that I don't want it to.
@DonSuratos2 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm... Notice the amount of paint when I started painting the first color? I loaded the brush with a lot of Woodgrain paint, but made sure that it was even.y spread all over the model. BUT, also notice that my brush has very small amount of paint during the stippling of the highlights? Lastly, Mediums won't load too much on the brush as they are creamy and not runny, unlike if you water down paints. Although you still need to wick the brush on a piece of cloth, towel or even your thumb... you do not have to wick too much, unlike if you water down paints. I hope I answered your question bro. ☺️🎨🎨🎨

Great stuff, as usual. So what would you say is the difference between Vallejo Glaze and Thinner mediums, and how do you choose which to use?
@DonSuratos2 жыл бұрын
Hi Hail! Glaze medium is more transparent than the other mediums. Also Glaze medium need more stirring ( not shaking ) before use. Thus I prefer my less transparent Thinner Medium. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
