Great advice. Calmed my nerves. Had a phone interview that I thought went really well. Quantified my results and connected my experience to how I would drive results in the new role. Interview was set for 30 minutes but ended up being 45. The recruiter and I hit it off but since then no word for 3 weeks. Started doubting and questioning if I actually had a great interview. Called this morning and they told me I was still at the top of their list and they’ve been bogged down hiring on a new manufacturing plant. Thanks for the advice!

Don, thanks so much for taking the time to make these videos. As an older person, I have found that the interview game has changed and is not a straightforward as it used to be unfortunately. I have to worry about irrelevant “behavioral” questions and other kinds of techniques that I don’t really recall having to deal with as much in the past, in addition to being an older candidate. I really appreciate the fact that instead of launching into your pitch for your products immediatley, you are willing to just put some free informaiton out there in order to help people. Having looked over many of these types of videos on KZbin covering this subject matter, this is a big deal. I am broke right now but I have found your free advice to be enormously encouraging and helpful, and I certainly will consider your paid options when funding permits.

Point # 2 (never take silence as a sign the employer is not interested in you) depends on the country. I come from the Western part of Europe, and if someone here were to call the company and enquire about the interview they had, they'd IMMEDIATELY get rejected for the job. 100%.
@DonGeorgevich5 жыл бұрын
I have (many) customers in Europe and Great Britain who have called employers to inquire and ended up getting the job because they took the initiative. Perhaps you are thinking of time when things were different.

I wokred at a Saw mill once, before I was in a different department. They had Saturday clean up with a small crew of 4 to 7 and that was every three months. Then I bid over into the Saw Mill on plant clean up. We had one more about a month after I got there and after that we never had another one again. The reason was I used the last one as a jump to getting it all clean then I worked on keeping it clean. How I did this was simple, the other plant clean up guys slept from 3 to 5 hours a night because it was a graveyard shift. I simply worked all 8 hours evey night and kept it clean. I saved the company anywhere from 6,000 to 9,000 a year in over time costs. I don't think anyone ever really noticed that from the company office to the workers otherwise they probably would have been pissed as me for cutting into their easy over time. Plan to mention this during the interview tomorrow at noon.

HI Don, I was told in an panel type interview that their team would be making a decision in a week and a half on who they would be asking to join their team and it has been 2 weeks. I followed up with a thank you the following day after the interview and also send a few references a few days later. I was going to send a follow up email today and just let them know I was still interested and wanting the position. Whether this is a good move or not, in my mind it shows that I am holding them to the verbal commitment on whether I was a candidate they were looking to move forward with and not just to leave it out there with no contact whatsoever. I know usually hiring managers usually do not want to give you bad news and would rather just let things lapse and have the interviewer draw their own conclusions. I like to know, I may feel bad for a few minutes but wondering is more stressful. I believe I have waited the appropriate time to give a follow up but did not want it to seem like an ultimatum. I have several resumes out there and have had more than a few phone interviews and a few face to face as well but this opening was so in line with my background and skill set and is my number one and hope to hear back.

Job interviews are basically ways for you to SELL yourself (selling your time, efforts, experience, commitment etc). What is my evidence for that ? it is absolutely normal to find people, inside or outside ur organization, with qualifications, personality, disciple etc which are lower than yours, but they still managed to climb above your level (position /compensation or both). Great chance that, in normal circumstances, they did a better job selling themselves to others.

Don. I have been attending job interview since 2017 to date and nothing has materialized. in fact following your video I realized have been going astray! However, sometimes most of the interviewers are jealous of and even compromising their relatives and friends who bribed them. I mean to say real bribery. Some of panel members don't watch out. Any way I apologized for the inconvenient caused. Others are sincere and even honest dealing with and finding an interested and a qualified incumbent

I disagree on the not being able to fake enthusiasm. I did not want 90% of the jobs I had but I faked enthusiasm in all the interviews. One even said I got hired because my enthusiasm showed I really wanted the job. There is also a problem when you say don't take jobs that you really don't want and that is that some people just don't want a job or there is no job that they really want. They would rather being doing something else than having a job but unfortunately for them having a job is not an option. They can't just go somewhere and tell them "you know, none of the jobs interested me" or "I really did not want any of the jobs I saw, now give me money". Not even welfare allows you to do that. Do you expect people to go homeless and starve because they did not really want a job? Will you give them money?How much do you make and what percentage can they take from that?
@DonGeorgevich5 жыл бұрын
faking enthusiasm is acting and it's not easy to sustain in a job interview. as a general rule, no, you should not take jobs you don't want. but let's not confuse wants with needs. what you need to do and what you want to do are two separate things.
