A lot of this is common sense but it's amazing how often we forget these things due to the emotion and stress of the situation. You can have stellar accomplishments, the only issue is if the job is different and you use something related to it , sometimes it's much less compelling to the listener. Thanks for the videos!

Accomplishment question is designed to get you to express the things you have achieved/ you are proud of in your past job, but they should be related to the position. Those are the accomplishments they want to hear. Read carefully the job description, find out what's most important to them (experiences, background... ), then think about your past experiences and your notable accomplishments and how they relate to what they are looking for - but DO NOT think all the past accomplishments, just choose 2-3 important ones that are aligned. Write in detail (with pen and paper) the things you worked on/ are proud of/ achieved, then focus on those and shape those to what they are looking for. Express yourself as closely as possible (mirror) to what they are looking for - that's the way you build your accomplish statements. Use the STAR behavior method. Situation - Task - Action (what we did to solve it) - Result. It can be an accomplishment or problem you solved. For similar position it's easier. It's a bit harder if you are college graduates. Don't say no, be sure to say something close (e.g. An achievement in college years).

what if you don't have any achievements and very little experience?
@DonGeorgevich3 жыл бұрын
first I would say, what have you been doing all your life? certainly you have accomplished something. If you had to come up with something what would it be? If you had to say you accomplished something, what could you say?

Great advice but I think it is important to also say interviewers / hiring managers do not usually react well when candidates try to pass off unrelated accomplishments or anecdotes as related - forcing an oval peg into a round hole. Doing so makes a candidate sound ridiculous and insults the intelligence of the interviewer. For example, if asked by a hiring manager who leads an accounting team to describe your accomplishments, don't try to pass off your unrelated yet valid achievement of regularly exceeding monthly sales quotas by 30%, and your demonstrated ability to track your sales progress (which contributed to your success each month) as an achievement applicable to a high level accounting function. Expressing the activity of tracking your sales progress as a skill or achievement significantly relevant to a high level accounting function / position makes a decidedly negative impression.

Hahahaha I lied and faked everything they asked! And guess what!!! I got at least 12 jobs in just past 2 months!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT- And guess what again, quite all 12- yep all 12- And guess which one I have kept for past 2 years,? The one that I was not even interviewed and were directly hired, and have accomplished a lot!!!! This is crazy 😝 this

how do you work 12 jobs? I'm happy with one or two? congrats. I guess?

Don't forget to leverage that accomplishment in your next interview. By the way, I am wondering how that furthers your career or supports your life in the long run.
