@@lldjwhyteell you are right about one thing, he would be proud to see a female fronted rock band be successful because he was a feminist. However, you are wrong to think Nirvana was not the best and most influential band of the 90s. Just two reasons off the top of my head would be that Nirvana has never had any bad albums, and Zombie by The Cranberries was very much influenced by the increase in grundge rock that was popularized by NIRVANA. You are only able to back up your claim by calling me a sheep which tells me you like critical analysis skills.

Oh come on. The radio in America has been mostly full of shit for my entire lifetime, and I just turned 50. You going to claim that Pat Boone, who held the American record for most consecutive weeks on the Billboard charts until about ten years ago, was an exemplar of passion, talent, courage, and motivation because he didn't use Autotune? Those attributes have nothing to do with technology or generation.

Somehow I never noticed that Paul was playing piano with them on Zombie. It really adds to the sound and makes the song sound more epic around 2:50. I wonder if he was a fan and wanted to play with them or if maybe they asked him to or what the story was with that.
@JamisenEtzel1

i only know this from watching too many videos on KZbin, but for the first half or so of Letterman's career in the late shows (both NBC and CBS), it was very, very common for Paul and other members of the band to join in with musical artists. Even bands you wouldn't expect, like Dinosaur Jr, had the whole house band play with them. I'm guessing it was the artist's choice, but reasons for doing it could be to help fill out the sound or just because the artist thought it would be fun to play with that band. Paul and the band were true pros who could all probably sight read songs flawlessly or pick them up in a day, and were pretty well respected in their own right, and they all did tons of studio work. The joining in thing seemed to become less common in the last 10-15 years of Letterman's show, but i'm not sure why.

I wonder why they performed 'I just Shot John Lennon'... 4:16 you would expect 'Ridiculous Thoughts' or something, IJSJL wasn't a single and Dolores with the red hair was all before the 3rd album. Maybe they were asked at the last minute? That performance was slick as hell!!! ❤
