Tom Cruise seems relatively normal here. Here is the actual quote from Mary Herron. "“We talked about how Martian-like Patrick Bateman was, how he was looking at the world like somebody from another planet, watching what people did and trying to work out the right way to behave. And then one day he called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on David Letterman, and he just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy.” Eight years later (1996) Tom appeared on The Rosie O'Donnell Show. In that appearance, he wastightly wound and controlled. My guess is Herron conflated the O'Donnell Show with Letterman. There's really nothing at all American Psycho about this appearance. But the O'Donnell appearance is more Patrick Bateman-esque.

@@alyal-majuid4950 I think that Mary Herron, speaking in 2009, may have gotten the show wrong. I don't think this is the show Christian Bale saw Tom Cruise on. It may have been a 1998 interview with Rosie O'Donnell, which actually aired a week or so into the filming of American Psycho.

He seemed so normal compared to how he would behave in the future.
@stefanosprokopis39173 жыл бұрын
@john templeplate like the way he behaved when he went on Oprah and that time when he was laughing like a maniac on the Letterman show. Also that interview he did with Matt Laurer. How about that screaming rant just recently on the movie set. Then He craps on about Scientology like it's some great religion when all's it is is a mass8ve fraudulent scam that has destroyed countless lives. Ate those examples enough cos I can give a few more if you want.

There will never be another Tom Cruise ❤. I mean, he is the same - yesterday, today and hopefully for ever. I mean, he has seen everything that this life and his career could throw at him and yet he always has managed to maintain his charisma, his overwhelming charm, his impeccable smile and his professional persona till date. And the greatest quality about him is that he never let's it loose like any human would. He is definitely not of this world because if he was, he definitely wouldn't be able to do a sequel of Top Gun after 36 long years when most would have died or have hung up their acting shoes by then. Way to Go, Cruise and we all wish you the greatest that life could possibly give you.💫

Omg Christian Bale absolutely NAILED HIM in American Psycho! Every single minute mannerism, the weird stare, the over-friendliness, the nothingness behind the eyes, darkness and turmoil that you feel is just creepily twitching right beneath the soul. He didn’t even manage to capture the aesthetic, but every single mannerism and facial twitch, to a T! I have to say, I lost some respect for Christian Bale a few years ago when it came out that the guy had a meltdown on set, but now I’ve realised what an amazing actor he is (plus, he apparently was able to sweat on cue? I don’t know if that’s true, but if so, my god, that’s some insane talent), my respect for the guy has skyrocket. I would probably lose my cool every once in awhile too if I had to play Tom Cruise. Hell, Tom loses his cool every once in awhile playing Tom Cruise! Also, respect to Christian Bale for seeing through the guy long before anyone else did - or at least, having the guts to admit it!

I hope Tom Cruise can get the producers of Eyes Wide Shut to release the missing 20 minutes (they said is lost forever) On Topic, Long Side Note. Dave is 6 feet 1 1/2 inch and Tom is 5 feet almost 8 inches. thats kind of short but not real short. I had the impression Tom was 5 foot 5 or something. Taking acting classes with some SAG members, even the women are like 5 foot 10 to 6 feet tall. many of them Former Stage dancers. Im too short for films at 5'11 :D and too old to start so I gave it up. I wanted to be a director one day (as many kids) but maybe Ill get some TV commercial gig one day. good money if you its a national spot and reoccurring spokemans. YEP!

If Scientology never existed, Tom would have been already following Newman’s steps to become a race car driver and entrepreneur. He would’ve become the Paul Newman of his generation
@steveconn3 жыл бұрын
@@evelynverdejo6926 Newman was a product of a different era, rough, introspective dramas like The Hustler and The Verdict. Tom of the shark-smile, empty eighties. Even without Scientology he probably would have turned out differently (though Born on the 4th of July and Magnolia were boundary-pushing efforts).
