Personally you can just play DKC Returns on Wii/3ds (3ds version is better iirc) and Tropical Freeze. Both are great games, but Tropical Freeze is much better than Returns for me. The original trilogy? Hardly played them. As much as I wanted to like them, the "camera" is way too close to DK, which means you often can't see what's ahead of you. Enemies or obstacles can pop up and kill you faster than you can react if you go any faster than a casual saunter. Minecart levels in those games are a terrible chore of trial, error, and memorization because, once again, you probably won't be able to react to obstacles, and you definitely can't react to enemy minecarts that move toward you. If you're a masochist, then I'm sure you'll love it. In fact, if you had a wider range of view in those games, they'd probably be really great. Sadly, the original DKC trilogy is super duper overrated. Don't even get me started on DK 64.

My favorite DKC game, got it on the WiiU, would totally get it on Switch if I had one. So many good memories attached to this game. But the visuals and soundtrack take the cake. This game is Beautiful on so many levels. And those saying this game is too hard? Its not. Its challenging, it makes you learn new tricks. You cant just Mario your way through this.

The reason why they're porting them is because of them not selling well. I won't be defending the price, but I will defend Nintendo's intentions for making Wii U ports on Switch. This game looks completely obvious that it is catering to Wii U skippers that have a Switch, unlike something like MK8D or the new Hyrule Warriors port where they add enough new stuff for them to appeal to both Wii U skippers and Wii U owners.

Mirage6485 Tropical Freeze I feel needs to be $50, and Kirby needs to stay at $40 because it hasn't changed at all from the 3DS games. A game simply being on the Switch isn't enough to justify it being full priced. Next thing you know the Pokémon Switch title is going to be $60 as well.

These dk games are super fun and can get very challenging. Though I miss the bonuses from dkc2 and dkc3. Also, I've never found the point on gathering the jigsaw pieces.
