Building a Donkey Kong cabinet is on my To-do list as I'm sure Arcade1up won't get the license. Great job constructing all of that.

I recall using a raspberry pi config trick to rotate the screen on the Button Masher image instead, which on the 3b+ didn't give me any option for which direction, so it was upside down. I just re-installed the screen upside down and that did the trick. I have since moved on to using PC's in my cabinets.

I didn't like the small size of 1 ups so i had a full sized Tron custom built. It only cost me $800 and has 6000 various game systems loaded on it including coin operated arcade games.

I could never do this considering the amount of anxiety I get from putting on a $10 screen protector on my phone, doing all that cutting, decals, and vinyl .... I would need a triple bypass from the resulting heart stoppage.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing for a while now. Thanks for the ideas. You know we'll never get one unless Nintendo itself makes it and then it'll probably cost as much as an original one lol.

I would recommend changing out your joystick with a magstik plus which switches between 4 way and 8 way directions on the fly. It will let you have waayyy more games to add for your vertical screen games and let you switch between 4 and 8 way quickly.

Great job. I'd buy a Donkey Kong machine and keep hoping Nintendo realizes this is a profitable market to be in and put out their titles with their own machines. I think there are too many mods needed with Arcade1ups to make them decent.

I have a Rampage Arcade1UP cabinet that I modded to play pretty much everything up to the N64. I also had make a new control deck so I could add extra buttons. It turned out great and plays MUCH better than the stock controls. I probably spent $140 on top of the $250 I spent on the arcade. My only complaint is that the Arcade1Up cabinet had flaws when I opened it new. I contacted customer support to get the damaged parts replaced, but it took almost a YEAR before I actually got all of my parts. Luckily it was only superficial damage. I probably emailed them 10 times back and forth. They seemed like they really wanted to make things right, but they didn’t seem to have the manpower to fulfill orders.

Great informative video thank you. The only thing I would have done differently would be to mount the monitor further/deeper into the cabinet while leaving the marquee in it's stock position. I really like how original Donky Kong cabinets have so much depth distance between the marquee and monitor.

That's what I said, I kinda want to do it but like most people don't know how to do it properly.

I've seen a lot of Arcade1Up mods videos and this is as good as it gets (nice job). When you have a chance, please create the video with more details about how to rotate the screen with a Raspberry Pi 3/3b without the performance hit (for all of the games).

Awesome cab creation. I really like it. It's great that you know all the tech how to. I can do the physical part of the build but dabbled in emulation in the past and now can't be bothered. That's awesome dude. Yeah I can never put any vinyl on. Everything I touch wrinkles. Maybe I could do this with the method you used. Oh yeah I hate delay or lag. Ok... ok... I've always wanted to get into video game modding... My friend and I have been talking about how cool it would be to mod Pokemon Puzzle League but replace all the Pokemon characters with 80s TV show characters and use clips of Mr. T, maybe Michael Landon from Highway to Heaven... maybe Mr. Belvedere... Mr. Rogers... hell throw in Gordon Ramsay as a Boss character... even the dad from Wonder Years could be a good boss character... and like the quotes change as the combos go up. Ugh... I wish I had more time in life... I have been watching some home-brew youtubers... maybe eventually... ugh. ...they are making a Donkey Kong movie? I hope they explain how he got all those barrels.

So glad to see my build inspired you, and congrats on being the first person to post a DK modded out of an Arcade1UP cabaret cab. I've done a few things to my cab since that initial build I posted in Reddit which you kindly linked to here; the main things are the light-up marquee, coin decal, and orange buttons (the yellow had to go.) You can sort of see its final form in this video from a few months ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4LZYmSiYr96qrM If you ever feel like swapping out your bezel, get in touch with Escape Pod Online. They'll ship you a whole bezel with the art professionally cut and printed in reverse so you can't damage it from the front of the screen. Also: I found a company that offers an Arcade1UP-sized DK cabinet, but they want something like $300 for the MDF alone, and I don't think I can pour any more into this cab, even though it's still the most-played of my six cabs. I sometimes regret the Multi Kong side art, so who knows... maybe one day I'll go for that more authentic shape. Bravo! Your cab looks awesome.

Hi there, I saw the link to classicgaming.cc for the hi-res artwork. However their selection isnt very large.. Do you know of any other sites for hi-res artwork or places you can recommend? I'd prefer to do my own designs for my cabinets but am having trouble tracking down the hi-res artwork. Thanks in advance!
@davidlinderman55322 жыл бұрын
Thank you this is amazing!! Technically their stuff is THE highest resolution because it is Illustrator EPS files (vector) as opposed to an image file which is limited by resolution and file size. But you have to have Illustrator to open.
