The difference between the first verse and second when he adds complexity is amazing. You can only appreciate the complex fills when you know how to keep it simple.

The rhythm section has a killer groove. You can tell this comes from the band listening to each other and driving the song forward as a top priority.

Their very discipline that's the key to a great band. They not overplaying each other and everything sounds smooth

Love it! And I agree with everything said in this video. I will add that if the drummer ad libs too much you end up guessing what they are doing on Kick and snare so it’s important for the drums and bass become one instrument by working closely together

Very helpful demonstration! I just started my bass music ministry at our church. I have dabbled on and off with the bass since the 70's. As a new member of the praise and worship team this year, and after all this time I now see how God waits patiently for us to come into His service, to seek His face, and His guidance. At this point in my life, He has ordered my steps toward what has so far been a richly rewarding and spirituality satisfying new ministerial experience. Any spiritual/musical advice you might be able to impart as I begin this journey is greatly appreciated. To God be the Glory! (Psalm 150:4) 👑🎸🎵

I think the bass is the bridge that connects the chords with the beat. For instance, my bass notes match or harmonize what the keys or guitars are playing but also accent the kick and snare.

It's a general rule of thumb for most all styles. Some genres have more instrumental expressions than others, but essentially they're all similar with communication and who plays where and what.
