Donna Allen is an American dance pop singer, born in Key West, Florida, and raised in Tampa. She got her start performing in the bands Hi-Octane and Trama before launching a solo career. She also sang backup on tour for Gloria Estefan for nine years. Her first disc was the Lou Pace-produced 1986 album, Perfect Timing, and over the next few years she launched several hits on the US Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play chart. She had two Top 10 hits in the UK Singles Chart with "Serious" (1987, #8) and "Joy and Pain" (1989, #10). 1995's "Real", her last US chart hit, was taken from the soundtrack to the Sylvester Stallone film The Specialist.

What a strong club hit in 1986 from Donna Allen. It went through the roof on my parent’s farm back then! Produced by Lou Pace, who also worked with “Nicole”. In 1994 it transformed into “U Sure Do” by Strike.

Here in the UK, this record came out April 1987 and reached Number 8 on the charts. Takes me right back to being a care free 13 year old again! Sadly it never gets played on BBC Radio 2.. a shame, as its a great 80's pop record.

Many of you are complaining about how awful the video is. Well, despite the 80's being the decade of the music video, vocals and whether or not you could sing was still important. Donna was an incredible singer. In 2017, its the opposite. Great videos featuring lousy singers who couldn't sing on key if their lives depended on it.
