I am a 37 year old white male from England and have only just discovered this man properly after years of dipping in and out of Motown music. He is a fantastic singer and his music has helped me through a shitty time lately so I’m just glad I discovered him at long last. Another great the world was robbed of too soon.

When you listen, pay silent homage and give that energy your strength in love and gratitude. There are other energies with whom we share this system with, who are not at all connected to the emotional world. They continue to infiltrate the physical genetics via memory and dream inception. The genetics in voice and rhythm are stronger. For natural elements, the KZbin algorithm does not exist. This video just popped up in my feed like an anachronism. Love and blessings to the Soul of Donny Hathaway.

Had to do my research. Donny produced an album for a group called Cold Blood in 72'. They recorded this song. And on the album the original version of Donny's "Valdez In The Country" appears. He did his own version and Lalah did her cover on Kirk Whalum "Everything is Everything" album. All are amazing. Extremely captivated. Donny was that guy.

@@CodyCole80 I'm sure they would make profits off of it. Rhino does own all of Donny's back catalogue and they have released archival stuff before. Plus to make it available to the fans of his work.

@Howard Parks, I second that notion! It’s 4:30 a.m. and I don’t know how I ended up here, but I’m most grateful that I have instinctively found my way. I am a HUUUUUUUUGE fan of him so much so that my children and I refer to him as Uncle Donny. His music is timeless and this piece is a jewel that have been unearthed.

❤️ this! Pure soul. 🔥 I wasn’t born till 1980, but I feel as if if I grew up on Donny’s music. IMO, he and Sam Cooke were the two greatest, known singers to ever grace the universe. No debate.
