Police Catch Her Partying Too Hard On River Boat

Arkansas Game and Fish Officers observed a boat traveling near the Highway 70 bridge on Lake Hamilton with a passenger standing on the bow of the boat, outside of the railing. Before the officers could reach the boat, the passenger began hanging off the side of the boat with his feet and legs in the water while the boat was underway. A stop was initiated on the boat, and the officers observed the passengers attempting to hide items as they approached. Upon making contact, the officers detected the odor of intoxicants emanating from the boat. The driver of the boat had left the driver's seat and moved to sit in a seat near the front of the boat. The occupants were informed that the boat was stopped because of the passenger riding on the gunwales. The driver, later identified as [REDACTED], denied having consumed any alcohol. Upon closer examination, [REDACTED] displayed signs of intoxication, including unsteadiness on her feet and the smell of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted, revealing further indicators of impairment. [REDACTED] was subsequently arrested on suspicion of Boating While Intoxicated (BWI) and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for further processing. Additionally, citations were issued for various boating violations, including riding on bow or gunwales, exceeding safe carrying capacity, and inadequate personal flotation devices.

What blows my mind beyond how many cops are on the water in certain areas, is the fact that none of these people ever have a contingency plan for the possibility of being boarded. It’s like they never even thought it’d be a possibility despite probably all knowing someone who’s gotten a BUI..

I'm not going to say which state/lakes because I don't want more cops to suddenly show up 😅.. but I've been on lakes (pontoon and speed boats) my whole life and never saw more than DNR rangers. There are cops on horseback in the woods near the lake but never saw an actual police boat patrolling. Maybe I'm just lucky and live in a rural enough area. Not that I commit DUI type crimes but sometimes you want to just jump on the jet ski real quick and not grab the life jacket 🤷 I forget that you're supposed to wear one "at ALL times". Makes sense for small children or elderly people but if you can swim and the water is calm/shallow it's simply an inconvenience to wear it all day. Sorry for the rant lol just saying, my only "contingency plan" is to have a lifejacket nearby in case the cops show up. These people in the video might also be from a rural area where cops barely make their presence known

There I was minding my own business in my swimming pool, when all of a sudden a FWC officer bobs over to my floatie raft and wanted to see life jackets, whistle and fire extinguisher and asked about that cold brewski I was coddling and why I was on plane in a no wake zone… crap.. busted!

FWC saw I had just installed a jacuzzi tub. Of course, 3 hours after first full floated next to me to perform ‘safety inspections’. Long story short my patty cake wasn’t up to par and I got a BUI. I resisted yes but only because I had all my safety equipment on board. I only had 2 drinks.

She passed all those tests. And fyi a little mess up does not mean a failure. I've done the walk and turn and one leg stand many times and dropped my leg, or moved out the line once and I dont even drink. Abd, Had they offered her to speak to a lawyer before the test she would been told to refuse once being told she aced the field tests. Shouldve just refused the breathalyzer both on scene,and at the station. she would've beat this case

Sober or drunk, the sobriety tests are given to fail. Lots of the tests sober people can’t do. It’s better to refuse the blow

I remember back in the day when there wasn't no boat patrol, Accept for marine patrol here in Florida, but we have a tons and tons of lakes on the sheriff's department might have won small piece of crap boat that sits at the department. If needed, but now they're all over the place, it's a ridiculous now. They're in every Lake, every river in every state.

this is prob the best example case of a boat inspection / BUI handling iv've seen yet, the boat based test makes zero sense and can often result in false positives, these officers where smart in having the one gal return to land to perform the normal standard test.

I used to go boating and fishing on Bull Shoals Lake, Arkansas in the eighties. We drank like fish, never stopped. We were there for a week and had at least ten cases of beer on our 15 foot boat. We drank a lot of cans, but saved them in the boat. The Game and Fish Officers would have been shocked. It was just me and my friend. We drank a lot back then. Never got hassled.

I got pulled over in 2019. 4 dudes on my boat. Only had one life jacket. Warden gave me a ticket for missing one. We were drinking he didn’t even ask to look in the cooler or live well. We were all only 20 yo. Gotta love Texas game wardens in small towns that knows everyone.

I live 20 miles from this lake and these youngins around here respect the law, they were brought up that way and they were brought up to high-tail it not pull out your phone and start recording when you see the any type of law, plus Game warden and ASP lol... They no they will get in trouble with the law and parents... We all do things like this at that age but down here they take responsibility most of the time...

Edit: It also has nothing to do with a quota, it was a boat full of college aged kids operating erratically, also it was the 2nd of the month so I doubt make believe quotas played a part in this

Lake/ pond/ a few acres of private land. You can do whatever you want. Your kids don't need a driver's license to drive a car in your open field. Private is way different than public.

I grew up on a private lake that was owned by the water company and policed by them as well. Occasionally DNR would help out on busy holidays but you’re right. Never got one ticket/ citation but was stopped 10 plus times before i even turned 18.
