The evidence that the police had was only the murder weapon which they had fingerprints on the father. He wanted to look what happened and touch the knife, and the father was the only person in the house that they know of the son was not in the house when they came and saw the body. Yeah, I would've recommended starting with Arrow, to be honest, but it's clearly too late now. To be honest, Supergirl isn't a MUST for the crossovers until Crisis (aside from the episodes that are part of the crossover), Legends is just a fun show that I'd recommend regardless. The trouble is that Arrow is very up and down. 1 and 2 are great, 3 is good, 4... well. 5 is really good, and I'm sorry but to me 6 was insufferable, I don't remember a damn thing about it. 7 is only slightly above that, but 8 was good.

I will say, seasons 5-9 have callbacks to seasons 1-4, especially season 9. I think it's worth it to get the full story and hope to watch all your reactions to this series. Grant Gustin (Barry's actor) is amazing! He truly shines throughout this series.

For me both of this series is good and interesting, but The Flash introduced me to the ArrowVerse, so I love it a little bit more that Arrow. Plus for me number 1 series is Supernatural, but still The Flash is great too
