Had one of the earliest K swapped cars as my first car.. Bought it back in 05/06 w. Full roll cage, Aem ems ecu, type r spindles/koni yellow suspension etc... For $6800!! Not sure when it was built exactly, but i believe there is a write up on hondatech somewhere. Engine only had like 20k original miles. (Built by Cody at Lovefab) I wish i had video of the reactions it got at meets, it was crazy. To put it into perspective, I debated trading it for a clean mk4 Supra, but declined. At the time, you could get one for $11,000, but finding a K swapped car in general (Especially under 11k) was slim to none.

Brian, you have your radiator fan switch thought process backwards. If coolant is coming back from the radiator cool, then the radiator is doing its job adequately and no additional air flow is needed. If it's coming back hot, then the radiator is heat-soaked and either doesn't have enough air flow (car stopped or moving very slow) or is under-sized for the heat load (which the fan can't fix). To detect heat-soak, the switch needs to be on the cold side of the radiator. BTW, radiator fans are a fart in a hurricane compared to the air coming through the grille at anything above 15mph or so. That's why the A/C suddenly works so much better when the car starts rolling, even though the fans are running. If you think it's compressor speed, try pushing the idle up to ~2k rpm next time you're stopped at a light.
@VTECAcademy Жыл бұрын
If that is the case, then why does Honda put the radiator fan switches in their cars either at the lower hose or at the bottom of the radiator. Honda is looking to see if the car needs air to cool the radiator. If the car is moving, then the switch isn't likely to turn the fans on.
@bobski3333 Жыл бұрын
@@VTECAcademy Most of the time, the lower hose is the cold return. I'll admit, I'm a CRX and 4/5/6G Civic guy, some light work on a few L15s, never touched a K. All the B, D, H, F I've looked at have that hard pipe across the back of the engine block. That's the water pump suction tube. The other end has the thermostat housing, so everything that connects to the thermostat housing is a suction/return port.

ive always had this question. cant you just splice the body harness to work with a stock k20 or k24 harness and ecu? without using hondata or k-pro or k-tuner? there has to be a way right?
@VTECAcademy Жыл бұрын
Yes, but that is beyond most people's skill set. You can especially do it with the JDM Type R ECU. It is much easier.
@DustyNutz516 Жыл бұрын
i mean it should be simple right? the only thing you’d have to mess with is the outside fuse box wiring and the engine harness plug to the fuse box wiring. and whatever you gotta do with the immobilizer. i can also assume its much cheaper then getting a tune and k-tuner
