My uncle worked for GE/GE Plastics back in the day and he was part of the team that would go around and demonstrate the properties of Lexan (polycarbonate plastic). To show its versatility in molding they would hand out Lexan beer mugs (I still have a few) and another property was its ability to stop bullets so, of course, they shot at panels of it. This was the early to mid-70s obviously inspiring the folks at 20th Century Motor Car who apparently got their wires crossed because you weren't supposed to shoot at the Lexan mugs.

@@brianho4933 I didn't think our guy here is painting this criminal in a sympathetic light so much as they're clarifying that being transgender wasn't the thing that they did wrong - the actual crimes were. If there was one thing an average person knew about that criminal back then, it's that they were transgender. Forget the actual crimes, they were painted as a transgender deviant. That was primary in the media, and it was fucked up. Honestly, Donut tends to go neutral with scandal people talks, giving both thumbs ups and thumbs downs depending on how interesting the specific things they did were. Neither support nor villianizing, but a full focus on the 'wow'. This was all about on-par with the talk on the Nissan Ex-CEO.

Agreed 100%, and the reporter who covered this, and exposed this fraud did great work, so more people did not scammed, and his Son Tucker should not have been dragged into the mud(HBO did the same BS). Even when in hiding in the 80's she/he/it/whatever you want to call them, pulled flowers on the corner scams conning people into working for her for next to nothing, while still dogging the cops, and the IRS, and the family admitted it all on camera.
@brianho49332 жыл бұрын
@@Heimdal001 That would be fine except he didn’t really cover that at all. I never knew about this until recently, so didn’t know how this was covered in the media. He presented it as a story about a woman dreaming big and trying to make a name for herself, only to not live up to expectations. Oh and she was actually born a man. And tucker carlson’s dad’s a pos for exposing her. At no point did he delve into how the media portrayed her and that it had nothing to do with the fact that she scammed people out of their money and it was only because she was a man identified as a woman. To me, at best this came off as a sympathetic take on the story of a con artist and at worst, its straight up gaslighting.

~casually listening as I prep a bowl to medicate before bed...because I love old auto stories like this. "claimed an 800 cc motorcycle engine would get 70 miles to the gallon" ~me, who rode a 249cc Honda Rebel for years, that barely gets 70 mpg > "THATS BULLSHIT!"

RIGIDEX "definitely made that one up" I mean, what're we gonna do...FACT CHECK HER ON GOOGLE? the sad thing is...today we *HAVE* the ability to fact check online within like 2 minutes... and *MISINFORMATION* IS STILL AN EFFECTIVE TACTIC because people really are just that lazy. So the BS ad campaign she was running would probably be just as effective today.

The Elio was a scam from the start, they were looking at three or four front different wheel drive deals, mostly the three cylinder Metro or Suzuki engines, but the Goons at GM didnt want to sell those surplus engines to a competitor, most people I heard, never got their deposits back, for a car that was never built \

Speaking of atlas shrugged... There was a scene where a mechanic was working on a train. He plugged a snap on modis into the train engine! Having used a modis myself at work daily, I was so hyped seeing that!

That was amazingly good. Very sensitively done. I'm old enough to remember the news reports that focused on her gender more than the actual car, and presenting that she was in fact a man in disguise to escape on the lam when the shit hit the fan. I hadn't realized that jerk was Tucker Carlson's dad. (what a surprise said no one ever)...

The cyber truck is objectively garbage, yes. The windows get all the bad press despite doing exactly what you expect from bullet proof glass. Anyone who has spent any amount of time in an MRAP in a combat zone saw that end result happening. You would swear the 6 year olds were throwing faster than Randy Johnson in his prime.

Not so related, but any idea why the Cybertruck hasn't been built yet? Apart from the microchip shortage issue. It's been *four years* since they announced it and unveiled the design, and other companies they beat to the EV market, like Ford and GM, are already producing electric trucks, in low numbers because of the chip shortage, but still producing.
@Ryanbmc42 жыл бұрын
@@damilolaakanni my father was an 18 wheeler mechanic for almost 40 years before he physically couldn't do it anymore and he summed up all electronic trucks like this. The amount of weight in batteries needed to pull a standard truckers load load with current technology isn't realist, safe, financially possible and would probably collapse most bridges in the US right now. My opinion on the cyber truck though is this. Who is buying a truck to do real truck shit and wants to make it electric? It works in big cities for attention, but right now it can't fulfill the practical needs of people who require a truck. Elon is a smart man. He probably saw that his buying base was LA and NY and realized it wasn't worth the effort. So he made better space ships.
