@@purwantiallan5089 They're everywhere on KZbin -- once a channel hits some threshold of viewership, they really pound the comments... Having a lot of early (Notification Squad-type) comments also is the key for the bots -- notice that they only reply to other's comments, not post new comments of their own. The bot accounts are subscribed to all of the big channels, and when they get notified of a new video, the bots scan the comments and auto reply to everything they find. Perhaps a way to combat them is to upload with comments disabled for some period of time, then open up for comments after the bots have been triggered. But that would have to be done manually, as I don't think KZbin gives creators the tools to automate that.

Then bring back the original B2B aswell with James (reviewing specific cars, like that ME E30 with the engine swap)... With that in mind, they'd have to lose a series aswell, which for me, would be D-List, as no matter how many times I try to watch it, I just can't

Forgot where I heard it from, but I remember an experienced tuner say that if you're gonna mod out your car for performance, always start from the outside going in. As in the progress line should be wheels and tires, then brakes, then suspension, then intake, then exhaust, then finally the engine. It kinda annoys me so many wannabe racers always do it the other way around

My friends always wondered why I always took a podium position in Forza whenever we used to play all the time, even though I had a "slower" car. It took them too long to learn that power means nothing without proper grip. I always buy the tire and suspension upgrades before adding power so I know I dont have to worry about losing traction. When I finally ponied up for a set of RE-71's my car was 100 percent a different machine. I had to re-learn the car so much so that it became too fast. Funny to say that but it was too fast for autocross. Tires should have been first and brakes second.

The LACK of information in the automotive world about tires is downright scary. Not many know what date codes are or what they mean. Not many know that all season tires suck ass in all 4 seasons. Not many know that all weather tires exist. Not many know that the recommended pressure lives on a sticker in the car and not printed on the tire. Not many know that two different brand 275/40R17 tires are actually different sizes. Some brands run larger than others for the same given size. And not many know that cars have 8 springs, and only 4 of them are damped. The tires are the other 4 springs. And pressure and construction affects the rate of those air springs.

Your video came up on my recommendations and I found it to be a great refresher. The information given was very clear and concise. I swapped from a top-end all season tire (Conti DWS) to top-end summer tire (Michelin 4S) made my daily driving much more enjoyable. There was no more wheel slips when kicking down. I got winter tires a few years ago and it felt the same both terms of driving stability and safety as well.

A good point to also mention lowering tire pressure helps with the tire expanding during heat up . When I use to race I would start the race at 25 psi when I came back into the pits I would see up to 40 to 50 psi in the front right #circletrack

I recently put a set of tires on my 2000 Camaro. went from 11 year old junk on the stock 245/50r16s up to a 275/40r17 like the video. Even with a smaller sidewall and wider tread the ride quality is way better, and I have so much more grip. Very worth while upgrade, and a lot more peace of mind since they are new :)

The first time i experienced the shock of the grip of low-profile tires was with my first Audi Quattro. As standard it came with 15" wheels and 195/65/15 tires. Of course couple of months in and me being 22, i decided to get 18". The only tires i could fit w/o rubbing were 245/25/18 (you always want 235/30/18) but even with the worse option it was incredible how much more pronounce the surface feedback was and the amount of grip you have. Of course it didn't take long to find the negative side of the low-profile tires - just the very next day hit a pothole and had to replace both the tire and the wheel. But ever since them i always go for 245/35/18 as a default choice on my cars - comfy and grippy. Of course now i always make sure beforehand that the car can fit them :)

Love this series. One thing that would have been interesting would have been first running a “performance summer” tire at the stock size, before switching to the Falkens. Then you’d have a comparison to a proper track tire vs a road tire (comparison for a first time track day), and then a track tire vs the optimal size of track tire and high end wheel.

Southeast got hit with a huge storm last weekend and I was able to make it from WV to NC in a RWD only Tacoma with the LSD turned on and a set of knobby all terrain tires. Changing my Mustang to summer tires from the OEM "eco" tires was indeed a massive improvement in every way. If you can't transfer the power and handling to the road, it's all just numbers. I can't weight ( bad pun) to swap my OEM 33lb chonky rims for something in the 19-20lb range. That's almost 150lbs equivalent in unsprung weight off of the car, which is huge.

I'm an engineering freak and I found this very interesting (how one thing leads to the next and to the next ...until it leads back into the beginning). But it puts some light into the best approach into making performance mods in your car. 1. Start getting as light as possible, 2. Follow with the suspension setup you actually need for the intended purpose. 3. Get a good set of wheels and tyres (think about next point in this stage) 4. Get better brakes please! 5. Now you start making more power, boost and all that. This way you start improoving your power to weight ratio and possibly your aerodynamic drag if you change bumpers and other key areas. Then you proceed with making the vehicle suitable for the task and allowing its structure to mold better to the ground Then you get the first hp gains, get significant grip gains and remove some unnecesary weight from a critical point (even better power to weight ratio). You continue making your car safer and faster by allowing it to brake later, having more time up to speed and more distance of high speed (so less time and distance wasted in braking). Now, you spice things up by finally touching that powerplant. You improve your power to weight ratio again, but now from the traditional point of view, you improve your throttle response, you squeeze more torque out of that little engine and hopefully think about future expenses that will come with an engine that has a shorter lifespan (but more power baby). Once you are done, you will have the best performing vehicle your car can be (or your wallet can afford).

measuring lateral Gs at a set speed is a good way to measure cornering grip. tells you right about where the line is between grip and slip, and the bigger the amount of lateral Gs you can pull while cornering while maintaining a constant line will give you an idea of how hard you can push before you lose traction and understeer

Wow, 4 seconds/lap is a lot more than I expected. Goes to show why everyone always recommends wheels+tires as the best improvement you can make.
@fattygamer943 жыл бұрын
You have to be careful with how you interpret the information, they were on a taller tire so the car was traveling faster. A taller tire means a greater diameter meaning for one revolution of the wheel, it's traveling farther. If you put a taller tire on your car and don't adjust the speedometer you're actually going to be traveling faster than what your gauge says. Still all the information they presented is great information comparing how size ,pressure and compound can affect performance
@nodo75753 жыл бұрын
@@fattygamer94 That was the least impoertant part of time gain. Hell larger wheels make you accelerate and decelerate slower.
@fattygamer943 жыл бұрын
@@nodo7575 A taller and heavier wheel can slow you down but In the video the newer 18" wheels were lighter than the stock 17". I'm saying that one can technically use a taller-lighter wheel, taller tire, similar side wall width, and technically be traveling faster than stock. In the video he went from 275/40/17(25.7" tire) to 295/30/18(25" tire). But i initially misread the numbers and thought it said 295/35/18(26.1" tire). So his tire was 2/3 of an inch less than stock. So this his gains are more impressive since he would be traveling "slower" than what his speedometer read. That's why they were using gps to track speed.
