This narrative about people not believing women about grape because of what they are wearing has been blown out of proportion to the reality of the matter. For the most part people don’t generally believe women deserve to be graped if they dress provocatively. This idea grew in the mind of the public from watching televised grape trials and dramatized tv/movie grape trials where the defense attorney would have to try and discredit the victim in order to defend his client (the alleged grapist) The Defense attorney would sometimes have to use harsh tactics and it would be very traumatic for the victim. One of the tactics would be to convince the jury that the victim consented and wanted to have sx and was dressed to attract men etc. They’ve been know to question the victim about their past implying that maybe they were promiscuous. That’s where all these narratives come from. Mostly Tv. That last clip is exactly why the standards of training needs to improve in every department. That fat dude behind the shield officer had his rifle aimed at his back the entire time. 8 years in the Marine Infantry, and 20 years in Law Enforcement (including 4 in SWAT), and all that training one thing stays consistent… keep your rifle at the ready when in a stack. That is buttstock in the shoulder, 45 degree angle toward the ground, weapon in condition 1. That way, there is no flagging and you can have your rifle up and round down range within a second. I personally believe every officer (and I’ve tried to have it pushed up to the top in my department) should be required 4 hours of classroom time, 4 hours of Range time, and 4 hours of combat exercise time each month.
@chrismaverick98284 ай бұрын
Certainly more training is necessary in general across 99% of police depts. Problem being budgets and coverage. A cop that's on patrol is not training at the range and there simply are not enough to go around right now after two+ years of cop profiling and de-funding to cover the beats properly. Then there is ammo budget which most departments cannot afford. And THEN there is the fees for training instructors, which departments cannot afford.

Smaller departments in rural areas, yeah, they don’t have much, but in my state, we have smaller departments that will train with us. However, we have departments that get new vehicles every year and two years, and they are take home vehicles, so every cop gets one. These aren’t cheap anymore. You think a new Police Explorer, Tahoe or Durango costs about 50-60k, then you put about 15-30k worth of equipment into them. Multiply that by each vehicle. My department, got 56 new Tahoes, which are the higher end. That about 5 million spent on vehicles, for us, every 2 years. I could go on and on about where budgets can be better to afford the training. It would be worth it to save officer’s lives and civilian lives.

@lemax68654 ай бұрын
The majority of the complaints come from people who will always complain regardless of how justified the use of force is. Even if it were true that they were only stopping him for a traffic violation, he still has to comply with officers during that traffic stop. The reason he got shot is that he pulled a gun. It's true enough that if it really were just a traffic stop, the officers seem oddly quick to pull out their weapons; that would be a valid point without the gang context. Additionally, the firearm does not need to be real. Dumbo pointed a sawed off pellet rifle that he had painted silver at me. 5am only lights were my headlight and one spot. My backing officer fired 3 times from 75ft away. 10 ring chest, shoulder region as he was falling and kill the backstop which was a 1985 Toyota Celica. Coroner report said either round was fatal by itself. We both got sued. Federal Judge threw the case out after opening arguments

I understand being cautious and not getting shot but what if that was a random civilian exercising his right to self defense? Like when they shot an off-duty cop fighting off a home invasion recently... The guy dropped his gun in the fight but got loose and ran in the house, cop picked up the gun and was trying to get back in the house, police came around the corner and thought he was the other guy... Pretty sure donut did a video on that one as well... It's definitely a tricky situation and whether they shoot immediately or not, there is always going to be mistakes... In this video I do think they should have tried giving commands first (very briefly, like one "Police, drop the gun" then drop them if they don't comply immediately), but dude might have opened fire on the house or got some shots off at them if they did... I feel like in that kind of situation all you can do is go with your gut and hope you make the right choice...

For the second clip, People seem to forget that just because someone doesn’t shoot back doesn’t mean they are not dangerous. The same applies for other uses of force. People are dangerous.
