It's funny how when you hear a song for decades, and you know every lyric and every transition, that you can forget it's greatness. That's why I love reaction channels. I get to experience it all again like it's the first time.

The Doobie Brothers are an American rock band that have been around for 5 decades. They covered many genres of music over the years. They had so many great songs such as "What A Fool Believes", "Listen To The Music", "Jesus Is Just Alright", "Long Train Runnin'", "China Grove", "Black Water", "Takin' It To The Streets", "The Doctor", "It Keeps You Runnin'", "Echoes Of Love", "You Belong To Me", "Take Me In Your Arms" etc.

This song is from their 4th album released early in 1974, before Michael McDonald joined the band. Black Water was a huge radio hit and I love the laid back vibe of this song, particularly the fiddle playing.

Brings back serious memories. My parents were big fans (as was I) and took me to see them 3 years in a row with this line-up, at the same venue...73, 74 & 75. I was 9-11 YO at those shows and still remember them very well. They had such a nice, warm vibe and put on an amazing show. So many great hits from that early line-up!

Excellent - I was driving in the area of San Jose State - I cruised by 285 S 12th St listening to Live From the Beacon. That's the location where they got their start. BTW Live at the Beacon is the Doobie's playing Toulouse Street and Captain and Me in their entirety. Hard to believe they are rocking these songs 45+. years later.

Chod! So true about bands taking you on a journey somewhere. The Doobies, Jethro Tull, and Steely Dan do that with their music. Also, this song is an outlier when it comes to the DBs along with "Another Park Another Sunday". The music transports you. When it does, thew band sticks.

In this song, that violin is called a fiddle. Yes I know they're the same instrument, it just depends on "what side of the mountain you're from", to coin a backwoods phrase. Great reaction Chod, keep up the good work!

I think the difference between a fiddle and a violin is that a violin is carried in a case and a fiddle is carried in a sack.😁
@jackndew22 жыл бұрын
@@SaverioP Ha ha you may be right! I know one southern musician told me a fiddle is not played under the chin so much and held more on the shoulder. Watching a few bluegrass bands I found that to be relatively true. Thanks for your input.

@@suecook1326 When you do listen to Foxes & Fossils, I would suggest listening to a few of their recordings, both from their live shows in the early years and stuff they have done recently in their home studio. They have amazing harmonies. Unfortunately, their bass player who has gotten rave reviews on almost every video, passed away from cancer last month. If you are CSN fan their rendition of Suite Judy Blue Eyes is pretty great - in the girls first show at about 15 years old. Ironically, their newest video is CSN's Carry On.
