All colors, shapes and sizes my friend. This is a beautiful video and song and as I stated in my original comment they (the Doobie Bros) have not skipped a beat after all these years but to claim that musical "limitations" (according to you that is) are the definition of a great song, version of a song or music in general is just plain ol stupid. So sad that this far into the future and someone still has to tell another that One Man's Trash Is Another Man's Treasure! You are not the authority of art so do yourself a favor, get off your high horse and put at least one foot back on the ground.
@slimreynolds6935
@slimreynolds6935 4 жыл бұрын
I'm with practical werewolf. The standards and quality of any genre of music, of of any art are completely subjective and relative to a specific style. The standards Baker speaks of are excellent for a certain genre and the Doobie's measured music and tight sound. Punk, for example, and lot's of rock n roll from the beginning scoff at that. Measure and time are meant to be broken in those instances.

Could be. But maybe it's also because the music of the 70s was (and still is) the best music ever put to vinyl. And really _good_ music, such as this, can bring about a tear or two sometimes. Music can be a very emotional thing. Be well, stay safe, and God bless you. "Unpopular the Movie" (Free On KZbin)

@@gilhanna4236 yep. It's really about the engineers. There's an obvious click track (track 1 on John McFee's digidesign Icon mixer) which has enabled all of this to be edited together relatively easily. There's also quite a bit of pitch correction, not that it's a bad thing. The engineers helped a lot with this performance.

Timing it all live can be done, but generally only within a citywide area. Dante audio can be used, as long as latency can be kept under 5ms. We've done such things in LA and Las Vegas.

God, I Love these guys!!! Fell in love with them as a 16 yr old counselor at a camp for the mentally handicapped in Coker Creek, Tennessee. The older, more worldly 19 year old counselor, Patty, let me hang along with her on our weekly day off. We spent the summer driving through the Tennessee mountains in her Volkswagen Beetle and listen to just two cassettes; Helen Reddy's "I Am Woman" album and the Dobbie Brothers "Toulouse Street" album! I fell in teenage -ove with every Doobie Brother while Helen Reddy motivated me to strive to be a strong woman one day! Their songs distracted me from any home sickness for my family and friends in Florida. These iconic stars have been with me ever since. They were with me in the form of LP vinyl albums and eventually CDs. I had a set for home, one for my car, and one for my office at work. I was covered and motivated! This Florida girl has never forgotten what my introduction to Helen and those amazing early Doobie Brothers did for me! Thanks guys! I'll always love and adore you!

You've got to say, I'll get through this, things are going to be okay, and so on. And get OUTSIDE. Take walks if you are blessed to be able to walk. Get out in the sunshine, with God's beautiful world all around you. Hear the birds, feel the heat of the sun on your face, the wind, and ask God to help you! never stop asking God to help you, He hears you. He is always with you. Hang in there. There's lots of joy in life to be found. Find it!

@@marylou931 Hang in there dear, we'll make it. Remember that all depression and anxiety, etc. are attacks of the enemy. It's somewhere in time near 1979 and a scared kid boards an old school bus destined for his first time at summer camp. He sat alone and didn't say a word. As the bus moved from highways to back roads a few of the young camp counselors tell the driver of the bus, also a fairly young counselor, to turn the radio on, then up. Like it was queued by the DJ upstairs the opening notes of Black Water start playing. The counselors get excited and as it hits the chorus they start singing along and encouraging all the kids on the bus to as well. In a minute it was a full on chorus, except for one voice, mine. Not because I didn't want to sing but because I didn't know the lyrics. So I sat there enthralled by the instant unity that had been created in that moment. A song commanded harmony and joy among the entire bus. I'll never forget that moment. It introduced me to the power and the beauty of music and set me on a lifelong path of listening to and creating it. Thank God for this song.
