Some people just want to validate their success more if they label themselves as coming up from poor. Nothing shameful or wrong about being born rich but its kinda shameful when you label yourself as an average kid if you grew up around your friends driving fancy cars or attending private school.

i don’t hate her, i really like dooby’s cooking and all. but i really agree with the fact that she as a wealthy person shouldn’t complain about how privileged she is. she needs to go out of her inner circle and go know about other people who are actually struggling with their life and economic value. it’s the only way she can MAYBE somewhat “understand”. she literally lives in a luxury apartment. studied some “food science” major and then followed her boyfriend to london because she wanted to. she travels a lot easily just for the “vibes” and has rich parents. she lives very comfortably and is one lucky person for sure.

Yes, she needs perspective... But ... Who doesn't? I can say the same thing, about the people "struggling".. they too need to get out of their comfort zone, and experience the "rich" "privilege" class of the world.. why? To gain perspective... If granted, the "rich" willing to share a perspective to some one 'struggling' do not need to be billionaires, or gluttons, just people over a certain amount of money... Hmm Get the message? when you're rich, you think everyone is rich. when you're poor, you think everyone is poor. She is a product of her environment. A great example of how to behave, Nick digiovanni. People can hate how privileged he grew up, but he has never once complained and brooded in his videos like Dooby does. You missed my two favorites; her saying that she loves her parents so much and wouldn’t know what she’d do without them, only for her to say that she’s cut off her family entirely mere months later; and my personal favorite, her saying that she’s taking a break from dating and that with all of these relationship failure stories she’s been telling that it was finally time for her to be alone with some introspection for awhile which everyone wholeheartedly agreed with and supported her in! But then she went MIA for 3 months and came back with a video saying “I have a new boyfriend and we’re starting a restaurant together!” And once people had backlash about it referencing the previous video all she really had to say for it was “thanks for worrying, it’s none of your business, everyone needs to think about why they’re so angry, and it’s because you’re jealous you can’t chase your dreams like me.”

After hearing/reading about her fully privileged upbringing and having a social safety net basically because she has rich parents who fully support her, it seems her parents might have also enabled her behavior because she basically acts on impulse and just spends and does what she wants, like fly first class anywhere. Maybe she is able to "rebel" more from her parents and do what she wants against their wishes because she has the Tiktok and KZbin influencer money now. But with her running away at the first sign of struggle/issues with her restaurant and quitting on her business instead of sticking with it dealing head on with issues, it's quite telling that she was in it for the social media/entrepreneurial clout or to expand her influencer brand. It wasnt because of the actual desire to become a chef and documenting that experience (which requires very loooong hours and lots of physical labor). Quitting at the first instance of obstacle also means she has never had to struggle and have the discipline to stick with one thing that doesnt go smoothly/perfectly - maybe because she never had to make things work, she always had her parents' support. She seems like a runner honestly.

[please read this in a cultural context] dooby is a south korean who cuts off her parents and by extension, her family. that says A LOT about her personality on one aspect and if you watch her videos, the things she talk about while she's cooking (not just the topics but also her jokes) says a lot about her. like this is hard to articulate both in common words and academic hypothetical analysis on my part but i've always felt some sort of a red flag from her (which is not surprising bc a. she's an influencer and b. she's a chef and c. she's an influencer chef) like i'd have to make a whole essay to break down her online personality

I get what you're saying but why is being a chef a red flag??
@nanacelia69387 ай бұрын
@@morg678 they have big personalities and often times a narcissist and considering the workplace pressure they have to endure (hot/warm/humid place with stacking orders, complaints, responsibilities to their station and quality, boss who acts like a jackass in such a hot environment, etc.) they often have anger issues and turn to unhealthy behaviour. some go to smoking to relief stress, drug abuse is also popular, and some go to other types of abuses. i'm not saying being a chef is a red flag, i'm saying there are certain stereotypes to chefs, influencers and especially influencer chefs. the red flag i refered to was dooby as a person and her career path aids in the prominence of the red flag that's alr with her.

I really like doobydobap and her cooking is very good, but she’s always trying to be idk “deep” or “connect” with audience while being so incredibly privileged not just in the sense of wealth but smart and compassionate and healthy parents. I feel like she’s always victimizing herself not narcissistically but she genuinely believes that. She talks about her not being that privileged while driving an Audi and flying first class in a huge home. People are struggling to make ends meet and but basic human necessities to survive and she tries to relate by saying “oh yeah, ik how feel, I was once double booked and had to go from first class to business” but not with malice or trying to one-up you. She’s just out of the ouch with the reality of others who have none of the privilege that are so normal and basic to her she doesn’t understand that they are indeed privileges. I don’t want her to receive hate or anything but maybe she could educate herself more on the words economy and what’s it’s like to like off minimum wage in 2023

I’m sure not all rich people are this delusional but she is exactly like the rich people I went to school with. A lot were nice but they were just so into their own world and complained about the most rich people problems I just couldn’t connect with them on almost any level. My mom struggled all the time to let me go on the big trips that my middle school would have where we had to pay for it and those rich kids would be talking about if they wanted to go on this trip or miss the Disneyland trip like I can barely do any of those and they’re so sad about missing ONE. I do like her cooking videos a lot and I wish she would talk about relevant topics in her videos instead of forcing her non existent wisdom on impressionable audiences who want to believe she is as good of a person as she is with her cooking. I always thought that her words sounded weirdly empty and assumed she was a nepo baby because rich kids never really have to learn how to use their brains (or grow up) unlike regular people who usually have to figure out her "wisdom" out at age 12 out of necessity.
