You have a great mind set when it comes to flying an aircraft. don't sell yourself short. You're following Boeing Standard Operating procedures from dark to shut down with good knowledge on the underlying systems. Take it from a certified Flight Instructor and someone who is currently undergoing their 737-800 Max PPC. What you're doing is basically what we do

Hi Doofer911, I bumped on to your channel long back while searching something rather inane thing about flying while arguing with a friend and your channel came up in search along with a whole lot others. I went through the top five of them and I must admit I got hooked to your channel because I could understand every bit of it. Your simplicity and clear instructions while maintaining that you are not a professional pilot speaks volumes about your credibility. Thank you once again and I will catch you up as soon as you have a new release! regards and best wishes.

FYI the menu button is on the real FMC, the items on the left are on the real aircraft. ACARS stands for aircraft communication and reporting system, think of it as texting on an aircraft, for sending and receiving messages from the company, ATC, and getting weather reports for destination and alternates. The one on LSK3L gives the status of the signal for the ACARS.

Superb as usual! Transition altitude as I understand it is the altitude you set your Barometer to standard. It is 18000 feet in the US. But usually 6000 feet in the UK. Climb derate is sometimes specified for noise abatement as I understand it

@@Doofer911 Hey Capt! Thanks to your video tutorials, I can now start up the B737, set up a flight plan and cruise. I only have a hard time landing this aircraft, I'm not sure if it has something to do with the settings in PMDG but each time I want to intercept the runway heading course, I hit the APP button to intercept the glide slope and localizer, my plane will turn to the runway and start descending but it will never align with the runway. Like it will always drift to the left out of the runway heading and when I hit the VOR/LOC to correct this, it doesn't arm or show up on the PFD. Tried this so many times and no luck. It's really frustrating. How do I solve this problem? Thank you!
@Doofer911
@Doofer911 4 жыл бұрын
Have you changed both course selectors on the MCP panel to match the runway heading? Also, both nav radios need to be tuned into the ILS frequency
@ringnyu6476
@ringnyu6476 4 жыл бұрын
@@Doofer911 Yes I do have the frequency and heading course set on both sides. I cross checked everything as per approach procedures but not sure why I keep on drifting to the left and the VOR/LOC key won't work either. And when I hit the CMD B key, the CMD A disconnects.

I can recommend Navigraph quite pricey 70euros per year or 8 per month. Gives Jeppesen charts for everything and everywhere that are virtually up to date. It also puts all that info into your pmdg fmc so that all the airports sids stars enroutes are up to date and real and you can use them! You can fly present day flights exactly as they are flown in real life!

Is it not true that out of date nav data (AIRAC) can cause problems when trying to upload flight plans from websites that have more up to date AIRAC data. This would cause the FMC not to recognize a certain highway, rte, departure procedure correct? How do you deal with this when you have out of date data and your flight planning software give you routes that your FMC cant follow?
@Doofer911
@Doofer911 6 жыл бұрын
Yep, if that happens you have to resort to manually reading approach/departure charts to figure out the routing with the correct identifier. Happens all the time on my live streams.

If the FMS section is what proper Boeing's have in their CDUs, then where is all the other FS Actions information saved generally in a real plane? Also, is it important to enter the fuel , payload data before entering the proper FMS section ? Asking, because I want the actual feel of operating a real plane.. P.s. Thanks for the series ! Extremely informative !
@ironmatrixs748
@ironmatrixs748 4 жыл бұрын
The real Boeing 737’s don’t have an FS actions page because ground crew and the flight deck handle most of the operations such as the doors and ground power. The fuel and payload pages I believe do not exist either but they are entered in the perf init page

QUESTION...we add fuel via SIMBRIEF ( main and reseve )..What happens if SIMBRIEF misscalculates the fuel ?..... I use as back up, just in case, a fuel program for NGX or use a base of 15.000 lbs for each 500 nm. When SIMBRIEF and the fuel program come close, I use SB and add 5.000/10.000 lbs for the climb till FL. ( FL 280/360 ). If the difference is higher in the fuel program I use this one and add the pounds for the climb..SIMBRIEF HAS let me short of fuel...but again..if it happens ...what do you do ( USING only simbrief )...????

VABB/14 is your departure airport and runway. BBB1C is your departure procedure and DOTIP is the final waypoint on that departure procedure and the first waypoint of your flight plan.

Is it ok for shorter flights to put the way points then go to arrival and put runway,then go to perf? Or it’s necessary to add arrival in cruise, and btw if I’m on offline does the frequency and radio matter , and do I need it for my approach, if not can I remove the radio panel checklist from my own checklist that I’ve done?
@Doofer911
@Doofer911 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah if you're confident that the weather won't change all that much, you can enter in the arrival routing before takeoff. If things do change, you can always check during the cruise and amend it if necessary. If you're flying offline, you'll still need to enter in radio information if you're performing an ILS approach but if you're not going to use the Comm Radios, you can omit them.

@dragoclarke9497

It means the aircraft is too heavy to climb to that flight level. Just enter a lower flight level, you may burn more fuel at a lower lever so consider taking a bit extra fuel over the minimum on the OFP. Most airlines allow the Captain to take on a bit extra (often 200kg to 500kg) without getting called in "for tea and biscuits" (a euphemism for a disciplinary chat with the Chief Pilot).
