Regarding the Megaman X5 fight against X: He's actually using moves he got from MMX4. I always thought this was a very interesting fact. Considering that X5 has a lot of re-used assets from X4, I wonder if this battle was intended to be in X4 all along-and was programmed, but shelved until later?

Actually, as ClementJ642 showed, the fight against Zero in X2 can be a complete joke if you know a little "trick". He is weak against the fire weapon, and if you stay really close to him, he will only shoot his buster. Stay close, shoot, jump to dodge his buster shot. Rinse and repeat till you win.

I absolutely HATED Shadow devil until I realized that. And I realized it out of desperation. I had been fighting the damn think for about an hour and was on the verge of rage quitting when I saw that there just might be enough space at the top of the wall to hang out there. At that moment Shadow Devil went from horrifying to laughable.

Personally, I would've placed Megaman X in number one for the following reason: You play X-X3 and Zero is the ultimate badass, you want to be like him, but the games also point towards an inevitable fight, in X4, you fully get to play as him, but me, as a young kid, loved it but couldn't, he was hard to use. Enter Megaman X5, the fated battle comes to pass, and I went in as X as I still couldn't use Zero properly, the battle was amazing, challenging and the music was so damn incredible, that to this day it is my ringtone, I just can't put into words how badass it is. For many years, that was it, I never even tried using Zero, and naive young me never thought what would happen if I went as Zero. Until one day, I did. Holy shit, seeing X as a boss was MINDBLOWING, I couldn't believe it, there was no way it could be more intense! ...and then he equips the Ultimate Armor and starts using X4's CHARGED weapons. Beautiful. It still sends chills down my spine.

I don't know if anyone pointed this out yet, but Magma Dragoon isn't using Hadoukens. All of his attacks, aside from the torrent of lava and lava-rock shower, stem from Akuma. He even has Akuma's beads around his neck and his neutral stance is not all too dissimilar to Mr. Dark Hadou himself.

If you're just getting one, get Megaman 3. The slide helps make combat more diversified and the robot master weapons are pretty balanced. While Megaman 2 was when the series started to hit its stride, I feel it's very overrated and that it really only holds its own against the later titles because they were built on it. Plus, the metal blade is very overpowered and the game is pretty short. It's still a great game, I just recommend 3 more. To answer your question on Mario 3, it is hailed as the best simply because it was the first to really refine the formula. Similarly to Megaman 2, people feel the need to praise it for being the first rather than on pure design and quality.

I would recommend megaman 4, however I might be biased as it was my first I played in the classic series. I think you should go with 6.

XP just played through mega man and mega man 2 for my first time using the eshop versions for 3ds it had a special feature where you could save whenever you want and go back whenever you want and it still took me all day! Whatever it was still super fun and I can't wait to play mega man 3 tommorow! :D
