-Doopliss's name comes from Duplighost, the name of his species, and a corruption of the word duplicitous, an adjective describing one who deliberately deceives others.
-Doopliss's Japanese name is Ranperu, which translates to Rumpel, which is Doopliss's name in the German, French and Spanish versions of the game, and comes from the fairy tale character Rumpelstiltskin, as both offer the same challenge: to have another guess his name.
-Even if one knocks Doopliss' health down to zero in the first fight before he copies Mario, the event in the battle will still show, and Doopliss will have 10HP, meaning it is impossible to skip the second half of the chapter.

Same here, I always like battles in games in which you get to fight yourself and/or your party members. In fact, I always beat the entire party before I take out Doopliss. The only problem I've always have with these kind of fights is that the computer controlled party never does as good a job against you as you would if you were controlling them, but I suppose that problem is unavoidable.

(Continued from below.) Twillight Trail was miserably difficult for its horror-fed reasons - comparable to TPHTrails. As Mario experiences his loss alone in full purple, dying in peril to cruely powerful creatures in a thick forest, all he does is come to be mocked by the obvious theft of himself. You can't kill Doo?liss, Doo?liss can't kill you, and Mario flees in high scariness of his own doom before his eyes - loosing four friends, continuation to leave the town for help, and simply Hell....

You have one pixl, one Paper Mario TTYD partner, and one Paper Mario (1) partner. More attacks can be learned along with new hammers and boots! The Legendary Hammer and the Omega Boots, or something like that. More chapters, items recipes, BADGES! Bosses. What you're on a quest for...is to locate ALL 20, Color Star shards.

(I meant of my ancient blabbering... :P) This was a very beautiful chapter through the fact that this well set a good portion of the storyline, as I personally believe the entire story was pulling to be as scattered and great as possible, but never got to the max. and had things come in either too slow or too fast. Because with the SS's second appearance have the only purpose to not use the SB, but give Mario another partner and a chapter's boss another chance much like the other bosses.... ;D

The next SSB would have to do something amazing for me to get it. The original to Melee was amazing, but with Melee to Brawl it just felt like a graphics upgrade with a few new characters. Nothing all that new was added and it felt like it was missing a lot. Love this song, though. Did you know that there were doopliss-like characters in the first original paper mario? they can be found at the ince palace, the last stage. I find it funny how they took a lesser known enemy and made him into the awesome fun boss/stage we know today.

The chapter broke the mold as a hoodwink. You see how Doopliss shadow copied himself to be you, proving he could do more than be the jackass to use lesser potential of his powers to joke about turning people into pigs. Then you become his place on the instance you take his Crystal Star. (You know, why doesn't Doopliss already know the chaotic power he contained, purely unlike Grubba, a powerless match host? Even the Shadow Sirens would need him for that long before their Vivian makeup loss.)

Sigh, I'll admit - When I first battled/defeated him and mario's shadow was on the floor, I didn't realize I was now playing as the shadow! I thought the game froze...I was so clueless back then -.- lol but I still love this game! :)

No, if you looked at the Duplighosts in the first Paper Mario, they have the same attack (4 damage points) and defense as him, and they also look like him, except that Doopliss wears a party hat, a bowtie, is white and not gray, has more HP (40, compared to a normal one's 16), and more of an attitude. Besides, he isn't creepy! He's funny (especially when he is with the Shadow Sirens)!

And lastly, a merging of dimentio, twenty mega-stars, ten power stars, the chaos heart, the shadoo party, Mario, King Boo, and Doopliss as the final boss.

Doopliss' chapter was probably my favorite of all the Paper Mario games, I love it when you get to fight your own party in games. TYD was overall the best, especially compared to Super Paper Mario, I thought that game was missing something the others had.

Dark Mario: HP:200 Attack:12 (Hammer) Attack:6 (Jump) Usage rate of Special Moves:60% Defense:3 A much, 'darker' version of Mario. His hammer does WHOPPING amounts of damage, and he can jump up to 5 times! Can charge up by 5 Attk and by 1 Def. After losing about half his HP, he'll add moves that shrink, make you dizzy and flinch. After losing 3/4 of that, will increase attk, by 5. Sounds Hard!

I think it'd be kinda cool to see this as an Assist Trophy. He runs to the nearest enemy and becomes their character, while that player turns into Dooplis for a set time. Dooplis himself will attack other players during this time as the character he stole. Eh? Eh?

Fun Fact:Did you know that in the first Paper Mario(for the N64)on the way to the Crystal Kingdom,that using your Koopa partner,Kooper,while trying to hit a switch,two Koopers spin back to you,and when choosing the correct one,the fake one turns into clouds and turns into a thing that looks just like Doopliss but no wizard hat or blue bow,just a red poof on his head?

They should do Dark Doopliss. I have the stats (I made up) HP:80 Attack:8 Defense:2 Sometimes changes into you, or your partner with its attack and defense equal to that of you or your partner for a few turns. It's able to charge by a whopping 10! Can use a move to hit both you and your partner, after charging up. That's my explanation. What'd you guys think?

I loved the final battle of PM:TTYD's 4th Chapter. Why? You get to fight your own partners!! :D It's loads of fun, but it's kinda easy, and in terms of gameplay nothing compared to fighting Duplighost clones of your partners in the original Paper Mario! Again, :D

havn't you noticed that the bell dings sort of often in this battle...and the bell dings when someone in twilight town turns into a pig by him...and if memory serves, there weren't THAT many people that have yet to be turned into pigs...so does that mean he's turning more than just the people of twilight town into pigs?

I finally got my action replay when I was on this boss. Turns out that when I had unlimited health, so did he so I spent about 10 minutes fighting him until I realized I needed to do that. Then after I defeated him, I thought the cutscene was still going so I stood there as black mario for 5 minutes thinking that my gamecube froze...

I liked this part of the game, but the battles against Doopliss weren't much of a trial I think... I liked the atmosphere and the situation Doopliss put you in... any case this was one of the best battle songs in the game... (Final Texts - I promise! :) ) thing, as well as too much kindness for this that she'd be more than happy to help any stranger in another odd purple. Showing the wisdom nobody believed she had, they ace and kick Doopliss in the head. Even after niceties, however, she feels foolish and cannot aid. Only after agreeing to help the hero MARIO as she knows does she say yes. All that help for her to completely backstab the X-Nauts via smilingly handing down the fourth crystal star to her best friend.
