Here is a tip. Do the manual door lock rod from the top, like he ended up doing. But First, remove the little rubber grommet from the actuator hole where the rod fits into and slightly slide that grommet on the rod. It's easier to get the rod in the actuator hole. Then slide the grommet while on the rod and press it into the hole while the rod is in there.

I did the second of the two back doors this morning. I have another tip. Don't loosen any of the three bolts holding the old actuator to the car door before you pop apart the little yellow clip that holds the rod from the outside door handle. You want that old actuator to be firmly rigid in order to get a small screwdriver in the clip to pop it apart and free that rod. I spent less than 1.5 hours doing the second door, total time, and took a couple of breaks because it was going so well.

I can't thank you enough for making this video. I have a 2008 Malibu and the dealer wanted to charge me 150.00 for the parts and 200.00 to fix one door, and I have to fix all 4 at this point. After watching your video, I order a replacement from Amazon for 88.00 and installed it. I took my time and it took me about an hour and a half to finish. If I didn't see your video it would have taken a lot longer and would have made a lot of mistakes. Next up i'm going to order 3 more replacements and do the installs.

Thanks for the video. I actually had my wife help me (she did fantastic for someone not so mechanically inclined) since I could not get my thick wrists into this opening. Actually, I cut my wrist as there is not much room between the inner door panel stamping and the window Styrofoam rest. We actually started one of the three mounting bolts to hold the actuator in place to get that manual rod back in place.

Thanks for this! I've got to do at least 2 or 3 doors, so going to buy the whole kit (for all 4), and I may install some Noico while I'm there. Have to replace a window regulator, too, so it's a project for sure. Take care!

Tried to take the weather strip off the right side back door and messed that up on the top plus this other part I saw videos of someone using a heat gun taking the weather strip off but I got the windows out of that door I was gonna remove the weather strips and the outer metal out of all doors but since I messed a little up on that door and I don't see a 2008 Chevy Malibu video on KZbin won't be taking weather strips off none of the other doors after paint the Malibu will get that door stuff fixed at a shop I got off a lot though since had messaged you on here before the door knobs all doors, hood, trunk inside panels all, outside sideview mirrors, grille in front and rear bumper which the grille and rear bumper were hard to take off. I ended up buying a new battery and a automatic key lock to open the trunk. It took about 4 or 5 weeks for me to take all that off which was done with that in June. It's other stuff wrong with it though more than one but taking stuff off my GMC Canyon 07 would be easier than the Malibu and it has less plastic on it because the rear view bumper on the 08 Malibu is plastic.

Couldn't get the 3 screws loose holding the door actuator way too tight with a drill or a rachet :/ any advice

all four locks work when they want to on my 09 and when i push the lock button on drivers and passenger side nothing happens. what could be the problem and how much part wise to do it yourself
