Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. kzbin.infoUgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. It works perfect so far and integrates perfectly with my blink camera system. It also works seamlessly with Alexa

I'm actually trying to extend my doorbell wires so that I can add a doorbell camera, but because I have angled siding, with nothing behind the vinyl siding itself - so I need to 'move' the existing doorbell wire several inches... then I can mount my video doorbell flush in the outer edge of the doorjamb. I think with the info you gave here that I'll A FINALLY get-er-done!!! Thank you!

I just had this problem. Use a nail cutter to strip the wire that was left. soldered the connections. It still didn't work even though the doorbell light was on. I ended up removing the plastic nuts covering the connections in the doorbell itself. Twisted them together and soldered them too. Then put the nut back on. Tada! It works now.

Why not a small butt connector and use only one side. You have to buy the style of your directional connector in quantities of 100. Lots of doorbells! And on the style you used can you crimp two wires together in a straight line? Thanks fo the advice!

If you are just extending the wire it should work. It is about 23-24 gage wire a perfect scenario would be 20 gage but the cat wire will definitely work.

This would work for the Ring as well, I just made the video generic. This assumes you have enough room to hide the connectors. If not soldering them is a good option.

Will the scotchlok UR connectors work for this?
@sellgooddeals-DIY5 жыл бұрын
Good idea! Those will definitely work especially if you are using a standard doorbell. If you are upgrading to a video doorbell you may not have as much room for them. As the video doorbell may not sit flush on the wall. Unless there is a large enough hole where the wires come out of the wall to conceal them.

That is no fun! I have been there as well. I gave my father-in-law a Ring doorbell for Christmas. He took the doorbell button off and one of the wires broke right before it came out of the wall. He asked me if I could fix. I debated cutting a hole in the sheetrock on the other side of the doorbell. Extend the wires in the wall then poke the new wires out the wall to the doorbell. However, he didn't have paint and I would have had to match the paint and patch. I looped solid pice of doorbell wire 4-5 times so it looked like a small ballpoint pen spring. Then I used small needle nose pliers to pull the insulation off of the wire that was still in the wall. I had to be very careful to not break the wire. Then I slid the wire that I made look like a spring over the wire that i just took the insulation off of. Used my small needle nose pliers to mash the wire spring onto the other wire. Then I was able to bend the end of the existing wire up and back on the spring wire part. Now the wire couldn't just pull off. I put a small piece of electrical tape around it. It actually ended up being really tight on the wire. It has held up for two years now. Let us know what you end up doing to fix it? Good Luck!!
@c4n4d44 жыл бұрын
sellgooddeals DIY thanks for the pointers, friend! I like the loop/spring idea. I might throw some solder into the equation you figured out.
