@johnchan754 Жыл бұрын
@johngudino9361 Doordash has an algorithm. Basically it studies what you are willing to accept. If you accept crappy orders it will continue to get crappy orders. This depends on your market though. What I have found is that smaller markets tend to earn better with priority. Which is why acceptance rate matters in these markets. If you live in a small market I reccomend getting top dasher it makes a difference. Bigger markets have more orders so it's a big variety. If you live in a big town then the acceptance rate dosent matter because so many come through you'll bound to get good orders eventually. If you see anything like $2.50, $2.75 or $3.30. If you can and it wont hurt your acceptance rate. ( that is if acceptance rate dosent matter in your market) Don't take those. Those are not worth the time and gas and with totals that low there is most likely no tip meaning they don't value your time in service. No tip. No trip. Sorry for the long message but it's things I wish I could have known when I was starting like you :)

I found the best way to double my income Dashing is by outsmarting Doordash. I used to jump for joy and click accept when I would see a $17 order. That is normally 2 pickups and 2 drop offs spanning anywhere from 10-15 miles. That is basically costing you an hour AND taking you fully out of the delivery zone. I settle for two $8 trips totalling 5-10 miles now by really reading the route out before accepting. That way I am max of 1-2 miles out of the zone when I drop off the order and I normally get a 3rd as soon as I hit the zone again. I consistently get $20-35 an hour with that strategy. It took me about 150 deliveries to really figure it out. Also DO NOT try new places out that you don't know. You are better taking that day off if your normal zone is slow on a Monday or Tuesday and hitting your zone hard when it picks back up.

I dashed myself since the end of 2018-till mid 2021 , I’d consider myself as an expert delivery driver. A couple tips I wish I would’ve known is that you don’t have to accept every order! Literally you have to cherry pick good orderrs. + Find a busy area with lots of restaurants. Like a mall strip I would drive 15-20 minutes to the area I would door dash in. Figure out your areas lunch rushes and afternoon rush. I would work 9:30am-1/2pm depending how busy the morning was. Take a break, like shower change nap. Then head on out 415pm till it slows down. Could be 11pm 12 or 1am. All depends how busy it is. Working as a dasher was hard but the money is there if you do it right. You will lose your car in progress so if you have EV or something you’ll make even more $. I used to do this full time and I would never recommend it. But part time yes. Why? Because If you work full time with door dash is simply not reliable. Some days could be a drag like very slow, and some days it could go great. But the fact is that not everyday will be great. And that’s what’ll have you thinking. So with that being said I’d recommend door dashing part time during the busy hours like the afternoon 430pm-10pm something like that. Go get a full time job that’s what I did. Dash on the side for extra money I guarantee you that’ll be a better route! Best of luck for anyone doing this full time. I know the grind and sacrifices you have to give up to dash full time. GL
@chucknovy76942 жыл бұрын
Great post! The only thing I have to disagree with (and I ONLY speak for myself) is that I do Dash full time. I've worked several "Commission Only" jobs in the past, so I'm used to not every day being great. But that's the nature of doing something that doesn't pay you a guaranteed hourly rate. That said, I'll take the money I do make Dashing and the complete freedom I have Dashing over a guaranteed paycheck ANY DAY AND TWICE ON SUNDAYS! But again, thanks for the post and the advice🙂.

I never let the customer know when I arrive or depart from a restaurant because doesn’t DoorDash send them a notification of that? Doordash is the one that people tip less , because more people use and the teens and kids prefer it ,so they dont care bout the tip when they order # 2 they offer more deals and savings than the others so of course it will atract customers that want to save and not caring bout the dasher

Ya know probably the best thing you can do is really know the market as well as you can. Certain restaurants have better tippers. These are generally the privately owned, non chain, non fast food type places. I have sushi, Italian and pho restaurants in my market that always have solid tippers. 1-3 mile deliveries paying$10-15. You can actually make some good fast money that way. I always park near one of these joints and try to capitalize on them. Of course doordash knows they are good restaurants and try to stack orders with junk restaurants. As a side note doordash has a really bad reputation with a bunch of merchants for various reasons this being one. Anyway on those stacked I just unassign the junk and do the good ones. Problem solved. But market knowledge is the best advice to do well out here. My opinion.

it’s crazy because lately I have been rearranging my life and using the past to bolster the future by focusing on work in the present. You mentioned the city I already have decided to move to in my five year plan. I was in military and worked in logistics. always planning routes, arranging pickups and deliveries. before that, I did the same thing for a product that has gone from putting people in prison to making people money. I have been dashing on and off for a year and a half and I am closing out this year with a hard focus on maximizing my input to optimize the output. You posted this a year ago, but today it was perfect timing. Thank you!

I been dashing for about a week now (5 full days), and made close to $900 (Including the $200, 15 delivery bonus) So I made about $700 actually dashing around 5 hours per day. ). I would say dashing is definitely something too do as a side hustle if you need too easily make a couple of hundred bucks in a short amount of time. Like you could literally dash for 2 days and buy an airline ticket. It’s GREAT as a side hustle. I’m a 100% disabled Veteran so I get a full pension. There is No Way I could dash full time, for my fellow disabled VETS. It’s an EXCELLENT SIDE HUSTLE.

Wish we had challenges (think that's what it's called?) here in the Houston market. Awesome you made that extra roll! My best friend was in Desert Storm (M1A1 driver) and loves doing handiwork, you name it, he can fix it. I found a couple of those types of apps and pointed him towards them in case he needs the extra money. Due to his service there are a few obstacles for him, but he knows he has an alternative revenue stream available if the need arises so he's not as stressed as he was over income (was given partial, his Dr at the VA is working with him to get full), which helps him a lot :) I'm sure you've probably heard this more times than you can count, but thank you for your service. Dad was Navy, mad respect always for every single one of y'all :) o7 Take care and have a wonderful day!

I also consider if the route is mostly freeway miles or is the whole four or five mile route through red lights every other block , if the drop off is right off the freeway exit then you can drive 70 mph there and back to your zone and save gas then it might be worth a longer trip especially on slower days.

I'm dashing in Caldwell co area in NC and people are cheap in the area..I see a few times a night a $2.25 offer for 10+ miles...I know this area has a lot of open areas with small towns but some people are Soo cheap that they will not get the stuff themselves and expect someone work for nothing

HEY. I just had to come back here and tell you after several months. I finally started dashing again and the tips that you called out in this video really actually helped me quite a bit. I went from making almost nothing because I got so bored doing it to making a very consistent $100 a day. So anyway thank you again.

The problem now though, is to maintain top dasher in Cali. Is above 70% and if you have to schedule dashes anywhere near my area, you have to do it days in advance to get certain times, if you forget once, you dont work that day because all schedules are taken. So yes, being choosy helps tremendously, but you are going to find days where you need to accept more or all so you can keep that higher acceptance up. Otherwise you fight with so many other drivers just to schedule a couple hours on any given day

I’ve been doing door dash for 1 and a half month and about 1 week ago I delivered my first huge tip order. I delivered 17 smoothies to an office building, I guesssthey we’re buying smoothie for the whole office and it was a 47 dollar tip. I’ve had a few 20 dollar tips, and many 10-15 dollar tips but 47 was a whole other level of tip. I couldn’t believe it when I confirmed delivery.

It was sprinkling today, no problem for me but my last order which was my highest one has me wondering if I did the right thing. Followed my GPS and saw a side street right next to the house. Since I did not go passed the house or in front of the home because there was no sidewalk or walkway I did not see that the house had an enclosed porch. Only choice I thought I had was to not block the outward swinging door by placing the food at the edge of the little porch they had that was sadly going to let the sack get wet until they got the bag. I’m new to DoorDash and honestly want to do my best while I do this as a side gig and treat others how I would want to be treated.

I look up the median income of a household and how much houses are selling for in the area My area is 150k and it makes a huge difference in how much you make dashing.

I don’t agree becauseI have delivered to houses in that price range and barely have gotten a tip or no tip at all. But I think it’s the children of those house owners that are placing the order🤷🏽♀️

Love it in nyc when people order for their whole office group and everyone chips in on the tip (or they use the company acct lol) - once got a $47 tip for a meal delivery and it wasn’t even snowing that day 😂

I have a black list for a whole intersection that has a handful of restaraunts primarily because the signal is HORRIBLE in the stores and an apartment complex in this area. I also RARELY take orders under $5 unless its the end of the month and i need to bump up my acceptance rate to keep it JUST above 70% to keep Top Dasher and I only care about Top Dasher so I dont have to schedule. Thats it. Most of the month I dont take anything that isnt at LEAST $1 per mile and nothing under $5 and for stacked I aim for nothing under $10. If its 10+ miles away I like nothing under $2 per mile mainly for the time and effort factor.

I’ve gotten an order yesterday for $6 yesterday for chipotle. The customer spent over $200 for the food. They provided me all the information that was needed to deliver the food but the suite number ! I called and called and even waited an extra 10 mins after door-dash told me to leave. When I completed the order they tipped me $40 that was the highest tipped I ever gotten.

One thing I seem to notice, and I could be totally wrong. I've been Dashing for a few years part time with more than 5300 deliveries. Sometimes I'll get a $2.25 order (Obviously no tip, I drive an electric car so its not a huge inconvenience) pop up going 1.5 miles and I take it because it (seems), I could be totally wrong, but its almost like Doordash says "If you take this Sh*t order we'll take care of you on the next one". Generally the next one is a good one, Say $15.00+ less than 5 miles total. Again I could be wrong.
