Oh dear God Craig. Dorian Yates has your total adulation doesn't he and that's OK. I see him less heroically. Dorian has basic sense and the rat cunning to invent an image that is sellable and attractive. A Victoria Cross recipient, a woman giving birth and people that rescue abused animals are tough as fucking nails. They are also selfless. Cultivating huge muscles within the carpeted confines of a climate controlled mecca to obsessive behaviour doesn't qualify as tough as nails. And he's a legend because he was huge and ripped. Really? So it doesn't matter that he became huge and ripped by cheating he's still a legend? That's not a legend, that's a person who feels inadequate and needs to compensate. A legend is Gandhi, Mandela or Mother Teresa and I'm sure that Dorian Yates would agree that lifting heavy things doesn't make a person legendary enough to rub shoulders with real legends.

The difference in conditioning is due to how guys approach adding size. In the 90s, they took a slower approach. They focused on adding muscle the right way and gradually gaining size. Nowadays, to be competitive in the IFBB, you have to reach the "carrying capacity" for your physique and you have guys like Rafael Brandao at 240lbs being docked for being too small, so guys try to put on as much muscle as quickly as they can.

I had the genetics for bodybuilding because people would ask if I took steroids before I ever touched a weight and never took steroids. At first it bothered me but as I got older I appreciated it. I began to lift and just blew up and got thick and muscular at the same time. I didn’t know a damn thing about how to eat right or train properly and over worked my joints with way too heavy weights to the point of having to replace both shoulders. I think it was a curse to have a natural physique because I never had to read anything to get the look of a bodybuilder. Met Ron Love back in the 60’s and played together in amateur baseball where my dad suggested he should start lifting because he had the same natural physique but much bigger than me. Bodybuilding gives with one hand and takes with the other. It helps those with low self-esteem, but encourages them to be too concerned with popularity. Many of my friends who once called ourselves bodybuilders in the 90s and 2000s matured enough to realise this and took a step back. Ronak Nanda I didn’t misunderstand anything, you’re attributing his hair loss to him coming off gear, it’s just normal aging... my hairline started to recede when I was around 16-17. But it never advanced after. Now I’m on gear and fine, MBP doesn’t run in my family. When Im older, I’ll likely have a receding hairline with or without gear, I’m sure being healthy and not being obese will play more benefit than damage from the test lol.

Sadly there is may be no world champion bodybuilder in history did not take steroids. Which means false looks. Once you stop it you return to the point before you started taking them

Totally agree with the last comment.now it's all about getting that look quicker.and alot of the time y see these young lads working out and they've not got a clue. Esp in these large gyms where everyone's looking at themselves all the time..

Define the physic and ratio of the herculean physic because it is rather difficult to determine. My guess it would be similar to surge nubret, arnold S. and Lou f.

All the old golden era gang with the exception of the Mentzers lived (and live) long and active lives well into old age. There is no excuse to ruin your joints and your organs chasing a trophy you will never get, and no point doing the same for a trophy you WILL get. You get one life. There is no other.

I agree with you. Golden era bodybuilders were healthier and lived longer than modern bodybuilders. They were not on the same stack.
