Theres been more than just bbing in the 90s and before. Weight divisions were used in one organization and another had height categorty eg short, medium and tall class then an overall. Not so many in the pro ranks but the Mr O in the 70s use to have an under 200lb division and an over 200lb division. Mike Mentzer was the over 200lb MrO in 1979 and Frank Zane won the under 200lb and the overall. So really todays different categories are just called something different to those of yesteryear. Classic bbing category just use a height and weight caregory. Bbing should just have an u der 200lb class, under 240lb class and an over 240lb class and the lot bodybuilding🤔?

Dorian is a good bodybuilder to emulate, because he didn't suffer from the body dysmorphia that many other pros did and still do. He is all about having the body that is best for your goals, and he is all about gear being pointless unless you are using it to make money on stage. He was in the business of being the biggest and best onstage. He needed the gear to get there. Once he was done competing he went off of it. Because it was never about being big because some kind of small guy syndrome. It was the body he needed to be the best in the sport. When he didn't need it for that anymore, he shrank down for what he needed it to do going forward. It's why he and others with the same mindset, like Arnold, Dave Draper, Frank Zane, and even Kevin Levrone, who actually got smaller in the off season, are alive and healthy, and so many pros that couldn't stop the gear because of their ego either already died at a young age or ended up in sad shape health wise.
@dans14544 жыл бұрын
Yeah Dorian didn't seem to have many insecurities. A lot of guys do bodybuilding to prove something to society, prove they aren't a loser etc. With Dorian it was like a challenge to himself, how mad can he make his physique. He seems ultra comfortable in his own skin. As an example, Tom Platz, who is also one of my favourites, seems to have more hang ups. He talks about 'not leaving the gym a loser' and that he would rather die than be seen as a loser. Maybe because Dorian didn't surround himself in that Cali lifestyle, so he never developed those hang ups.

As a bodybuilder, I do not think bodybuilding is a sport. A sport has rules and standards for who wins. In baseball whoever has the most runs wins the game, in soccer the most goals, basketball/football the most points. But in bodybuilding there’s absolutely no restriction as to what you can put into your body, and the winner is based on what other people think. In baseball you can’t have more runs and lose or in soccer you can’t score more goals and lose but in bodybuilding, you can have a superior physique and still lose if the judges don’t like it. While I think what we do requires an incredible amount of dedication, knowledge, and discipline, I think it is more of a competition and not a sport.

@@richrich876 sport is anything that's physically and mentally challenging . It requires a set of actions you do everyday to achieve a certain desired result in the form of a physique. Then , you compete with other guys who did the same in a contest to see who would emerge a Victor. I won't argue if you don't think through unbiased . For many people it is , for you it's not . But don't make it seem like it's something as easy as putting and undie and stepping on stage . You won't get it because you are not in it.

Julio Hernandez you’re high bro...Ronnie Coleman was in his own realm he left earth when he trained.
@juliohernandez33234 жыл бұрын
@@DarkLordVortex I am referring to intensity. Ronnie trained extremely heavy that doesn't mean necessarily with full intensity. Ronnie didnt train to failure constantly like Dorian used to do. That is how Ronnie's destroyed his body not due to intensity, but due to the extreme poundage he moved.

@@supercenturion7531 so even by that, it doesn't fit the definition. You seem to forget there are defining features of sports: objective scoring, actual display of skill, ability to affect the outcome during competition. It's laughable when bodybuilders try to use the loosest definition so they can deny it's actually a perverse beauty pageant and professional drug taking.
