The one thing that demotivates me the most is the voice in my head that tells me "even when you get there, you still won't be happy, so why bother putting in the effort anyway"

I learned this from Dr. Scott Eilers here on KZbin… If you don’t feel happy either way, why not just do the healthier option?

Happiness is different from contentment. Happiness is a temporary and fleeting feeling we get from accomplishing a short term goal, whereas contentment is being able to live with the choices you’ve made and feel fulfilled going down the path you’re going down. The ticking of life’s clock makes you feel like you have to do everything all at once, but that impossible in a lifetime.

I was directionless up until late February of 24, gonna finally start doing what I think is best for me. Let’s see where life takes me by the end of the year. Im 20, dropped out of highschool when I was 17 but honestly that doesn’t matter because I have a clear vision of what I’m going to do in the future. God lives within you. You are God. And as long as you put in the work and manifest, you’ll attract anything you want. I’m already living the life I want even tho I don’t have it rn. It’s the feeling of having it, it’s what’s going to help attract the life you want.

i'm 21 and i've always wanted to be an artist and a musician. i didnt go to college. right after high school, during the pandemic, my dad started getting sick due to parkinson's. i was at home working and saving money, and 3 1/2 years of this went by. during this time i watched my parents' dynamic more closely and realized my dad was very controlling and manipulative. in the middle of it we moved states and i was hundreds of miles away from my friends that were helping me through it. i just watched him get worse and watched my parents make each other miserable, and had no hope for myself or my family. now my parents are divorced and my dad's in an assisted living home with professional carers, and it's just me, my mom, and my little sister at home. i feel like my head's still spinning from all of it and i compare myself to my friends graduating college and i feel so behind. i'm also just now learning how to drive and that's been challenging. i feel like every day's just a stumble in the dark. it's nice to read your comment and remember that i'm not the only one feeling this way, and i admire your resolve to make a change. i wish you the best, this will be a better year for both of us :)

@@zwalker2000 www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeship Or go into your local college and have a look at their apprenticeships. Get yourself signed up to your college and have your name down for apprenticeships, go to their open evenings and meet people and talk to people there, they will help too. They will contact you and see if you are interested when they become available. Depending on your age, it might take a year or 2 to find one. That Gov site is very good though. My advice would be to fire off CVs to people, fill in the forms and maybe try and get the companies number and ring them. Good luck.

This is the whole idea of being comfortable with being uncomfortable. If you make sure to step out your comfort zone every day, doing so will give you satisfaction and in the end build a resilience towards the uncomfortableness, often times small things can translate to some of the biggest moves in the future. If you get used to stepping out your comfort zone and you get used to failing it will only make doing new things that much easier and that much more beneficial for you. I try to tell my ‘anti social’ friends that its possible no matter who or what you claim you are , go out and step out your comfort zone even if its just saying hi to a crush.

24. Barely getting my shit together. Got into a good music school (first semester) and I want to be a teacher and conductor. Studying with a famous opera singer. At 18 I had no idea what the hell I wanted to do. I never had guidance. Most of my teachers said I’d be a loser. Sometimes I feel so lost and discouraged but things take time. I'm 27 in an Eastern European homeless shelter. I'm lucky to have internet and a phone. At 22 I was an intern in a tech company as a frontend dev. It doesn't work out for everybody. I tried and grinded for 3 years to make it, ended up addicted on amphetamine and MDMA to be able to study as much as I can to catch up to the real programmers and it ruined my life. I'm not that guy who study every stack and uni sh!t, grit isn't enough, this is the truth. You are talented and an entrepenuer inside. I could never record my face giving advice or start a company. I suck at business and wages here are so low you just can't make ends meet alone by yourself. I lost my passion after realizing the soul sucking reality of the corporate cubicle work, paired with their greed to manipulate you into doing 3 positions for the wage for 1. I wish others to achieve their IT dream, but I'm one of those self made devs who silently failed.

There days when I feel highly motivated, and my actions reflect that and I accomplish things and behave in ways that I’m proud of, but the uncertainty of the consequences of my behaviors always frightens me, the questioning if “am i on the right path?” But hearing your story really puts into perspective that action with the intent of learning and growth is always greater than inaction. And to act and fail is better than to not have acted at all. Thank you for this video. I can’t say I’ll never feel down, alone or scared again, but this video pushed me a step further today. 19 years old here and I have always felt much older. Now it feels like I want to go to the next stage in my life which is getting out of the house and building something for myself and my girlfriend. Just to realise I am at my first year of studying and still have multiple years to go. Just feeling stuck in life rn, trying to just stay fit by going to the gym almost every day and really trying to get off of my nicotine addiction and drinking/smoking weed habits. While at the same time you gotta enjoy life right? Hope things will get better and I will start to enjoy the basics of life (again) Thx for reading have a wonderful day🤙

don't worry it can always get worse. As you get older things like your health will get worse. People's belief that you can change and improve will be lost. Employers look for young people not older people. Your time to build interest is lost when you're older.

24 here, do things anything but do not stay stagnant hop job learn new things and quit when you stop benefiting and stop learning when you feel stuck upgrade. Since I was 15 I’ve worked and only switched jobs when I found better pay and only took a pay cut when I wanted the experience and knowledge that came with the new job but whatever you do never get stuck learn enough about money read books I’m 24 and spent all that time not knowing what I wanted out of a career but had a burning desire to be financially wealthy and able to provide for those who have provided for me. At 24 I’ve learned all I needed to upgrade to the biggest leap yet and got the balls to risk it on a valuable skill I believe will let me run my future full throttle. Truth is never stop figuring it out you’ll never figure it out but that’s the trick your always finding the new way forward is the way to go keep moving never stay still never get stuck

im 26. i barely remembered my teenage years or my twenties. all i knew is that i never had a parent who stuck with me or guided me. i always did dumb shit going out late at night, smoking weed and drinking while playing video games. didnt go to college or uni but graduated high school. i always moved provinces and houses. now i feel stuck and forced in life and scared cause i have no direction in life or goal. i basically been living with the flow and trying things out in life see what opportunities are there for me at this moment. but i just still feel stuck. im glad i stopped by and saw this video. ❤❤❤❤

Hey man I appreciate the advice. I'm 26 going on 27 and I have felt this way for a while now. A lot of people on my Facebook have nice cars, good jobs and are married with kids. But I know that's all subjective. I tried real estate but got screwed over by the guy I was working with in December. And buying and selling cars which I'm going to start doing again soon. With rising inflation and the taxes going up it's been rough out here. I just don't know what to do anymore.

I always knew I was holding myself back. I wouldn’t get a girlfriend because I already imagined the rejection in my mind, I wouldn’t take school seriously, instead of using gaming as a hobby I used it as an escape to ignore my responsibilities. I’m getting better, and I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one. I’m still young (21) I got plenty of time. This video is very inspiring, helps me push forward. Thank you.

I loved the guy-with-the-trucks story because it hits VERY close to home. I had a friend who similarly was one year older than me and it looked like he was 3x as successful as I was. The worst part is that he would show up and tell me about how well he did in a random videogame. He literally beat me both in the virtual and in the real world.

I have my own business but I feel like it just pays the bills and I am jumping into e-commerce in hopes of just having a second source of income I am learning everything myself since course are 5k and I feel like I am not going anywhere with my business and this e-commerce. I have been having the feeling of giving up and just get a regular job but I have always tell myself just keep pushing but yet I feel like I am wasting my time trying for something I had already failed at just haven’t came into realization I hope I am not making a mistake by continuing and I apologize for my poor punctuation. Thank you for this video I will return to this comment in a couple months I pray everything works out. And for anyone reading this I hope you find some wisdom in this video.

Dorian Develops you beautiful bastard. I am 19 and I feel directionless. I dropped out of university and lost my job and was unemployed for a while. I recently started working again which is good but I'm not earning enough and I just feel like garbage almost all the time because I know I could have done better. My goal is to work in IT in some capacity because I love computers and most of all I love software. I would love to help people with software problems, whether it is physically walking to their computer and fixing the problem for them, or what ever it may be. I just want to get in to IT so bad and this video has helped me so much. I will forever be grateful for the words of wisdom man because I finally found my drive for greatness. I will make something out of myself I promise.

Messing up early might be a blessing in disguise! Just learn & grow as much as you can and you’ll get a head start bro. I’m 23, gonna be finishing university by the end of the year & sometimes I wish I had dropped out around 19 to start pursuing something I was more passionate about. I’m confident able to land a decent job with my BA. Look into product management & quality assurance, super lucrative fields that you get into it with cheap course certifications / self-taught KZbin knowledge instead of a degree. They work in the software field too

I'd had a lot of struggles early in university because I was so directionless. Job hopping around led me back to university after I really got passionate about software engineering. It does suck because I had full scholarships originally for college and could have gotten my degree pretty much debt free, but I blew my chance and had to get student loans anyway after going back. The loans suck, but I was able to get through it and it's better than working some of the crappy jobs I used to work before my degree.

25. Im just gonna do this here because I know I'll just forget or give an excuse later. I'd like to better figure out how to unite my various friend groups and aquaintces. Id like to better my language skills in spanish and Portuguese. Speaking of study I like to learn a trade I thought I cared which but now not so much. And I love music and drawing and like to better incorporate them in my daily life because I'll draw or play my guitar just whenever. It feels like a lot to me all these things i feel are a result of me giving more excuses rather than drive to do or just do. I know I can with my better relationship with exercise so all this is possible. I appreciate this video. Subbed.

I’m 23, and I’m just starting my journey. I, like a lot of you I assume, am highly competitive which also means I compare myself and base my success on everyone around me, which I believe is a bad thing (comparison is the thief of joy). But, if you think how I do and are always comparing yourself to others, think of it this way: me watching this video gives me miles in front of alot of other 23 yo. Same if you’re 25, 26, 28, the point is the fact that you are CONSCIOUS that you don’t have much time even tho in reality we have more than most, already puts you in a much better place compared to if you WEREN’T aware of your time. Keep grinding and take it one day at a time, be present and don’t overthink it 🙏

30 years old here and still rent, no wife or girlfriend, no kids, no degree (but have 3 certificates from community college in IT), and don't have a job at the moment. Hoping that by 38 I finished my degree, have a girlfriend/fiance/wife, have a good job, and own a house. Also, I've worked a bunch of minimum-wage jobs between 17 and now. In Colorado, luckily, the minimum wage went up to $13 an hour, but not everywhere has that luxury.
