According to at least Toyotaro, Ginyu got the horny purple body after body swapping well into his adult years. Though, seeing as how he had it even as far back as Frieza taking over Planet Vegeta according to DBS Broly, he still ended up keeping that body for well over 20 years by the time of the Namek Saga.
