Ghost ogre on birth wouldve negated it. When it comes to continuous spells and traps destroying them stops it. (Yu-Gi-Oh really just doesn't teach this stuff unfortunately) That last game the gold pride player could've used the nitro head token to make amazing dragon and returned two of your cards to your hand which would definitely have given him a chance to win

The main point of these comments btw is to show that you can almost always find a way to win even if you're going second and your opponent puts up tons of interruption. Against SHS sure if you don't open handtraps or board breakers going second is miserable but against decks that don't put up a bunch of negates there's soo many ways to outplay your opponent and get yourself back in the game.

17:07 This was the time to use Ghost Ogre. It doesn't technically "negate," but since Birth is a continuous spell its effect won't actually happen if the card is no longer on the field when it resolves.

@@mr.saigaikun Yeah sometimes Konami decides to make certain decks have somewhat of a counter to the meta. Plunder Patrol has a card that also places a token on the opponents field and in 2016 Konami gave Blue eyes Blue eyes spirit dragon which countered every other meta deck in the game.

Doto, you're aware that if a continuous magic/trap card is destroyed before resolving, its effect is negated. At 17:18, Ghost Ogre could have negated Kashtira Birth by destroying it before resolution.

Doto i dont think you realized that by giving your opponent the token turn 1 in that first duel you floodgated your opponent from their entire kashtira engine, they can only special summon themselves when they have 0 monsters (including tokens). they literally only could normal riseheart unless he had kashtira birth

Also Continuous spells/traps need to stay on the field in order to activate/resolve their effects so if you destroyed birth with ghost ogre then birth's effect wouldn't resolve, this only applies to Continuous spells/traps though

If you're wondering Doto, you couldn't Ghost Ogre Arise Heart because Ghost Ogre specifically says that it needs to be sent to the GY for it's effect whereas Ash Blossom is a discard, so Ash would work even if it's discarded to the banished zone.

17:05 It's a bit late to tell you this but destroying continuous spells and traps before their effect resolves negates the effect. That's also true for field spells. It's because continuous spells and traps and field spells must be faceup on the field for their effect to resolve.

If you were to use something like Ghost Ogre to destroy it the effect can't resolve correctly so something like Kashtira Birth can't reborn in that situation.

It wouldn't have worked anyways. Ghost Ogre says it has to be sent to the grave, and Arise Heart makes it so anything sent to the grave gets banished instead. Maxx C also gets countered by Arise Heart for this same reason.

A cheeper version of this deck would be gold pride vampires. The vampires makes the GP cards. live and they are level 3 so you can get the xyz out and with the vampires you can get an spell trap negate

So, as many comments have said already, ghost ogre on the pressured planet would´ve stopped the pop effect. Also, rather than going for pinballer that game, you maybe could´ve gotten to a fortune tune into zeus line, which would´ve pretty much won you the game on the spot probably (providing ofc you knew about ghost ogre negating the field spell effect, so hindsight is 20/20 I guess?). Anyways, glad you are enjoying gold prides, as I indulge in a bit of balling myself from time to time and the deck is really fun and has a lot of depth.
