Even though I have read many Bibles, and I am part of the wider Catholic tradition, the Douay version is one that I have not read. I have read the KJV a ton. I have read the Knox version a ton. However, the Douay is still new to me.

Richard Challoner revised the Douay Rheims in the 1750s, pretty much taking the KJV and making it more in line with the Latin. Perhaps thats why its a little "easier", but very similiar to the KJV?

How do protestants deal with a deuterocanonical books if found in their bible?

@@kinyouz-nn4897 We prefer it between the testaments rather than throughout the Bible. But it is important historical and theological content though not considered inspired or authoritative for a life of faith.

It depends upon the Protestant tradition. Traditional Protestants (e.g., Anglicans, Lutherans) still recognize those books and include them in the daily and Sunday lectionaries. They are seen as scripture but not at the same level as the rest (similar to how Luther treated James and Revelation). Meanwhile, later (more radical) Protestant groups like Baptists and Pentecostals often reject those books entirely.
