Interesting info. I had a hip replacement in my thirties as well. Hockey and martial arts had a lot to do with my hip replacement as well.

Be aware that changing your hip anatomy will impact your spine and knees and ankles. Watch your muscle development. These help keep your other joints in place. As a physician I hate the artificial joints. I understand your need to be functional. You are right people can become allergic to titanium and other metals and plastics.

Good Morning and thank you for this information. I am curious to know if a hip resurfacing was considered for Adam. This is a procedure that benefits a very active athlete so that they can get back to their sports unencumbered. I am glad that Adam is having success in his career with his total hip replacement.

Spur removal is considered a resurfacing. He said he had that first.

Thanks for commenting, but that is not the resurfacing that I was referring to. Andy Murray(Pro Tennis Player) had resurfacing where they grind down the femoral head(similar to putting a crown on a tooth) and then put a ceramic cap on the remainder of the femoral head with a new polyurethane insert into the pelvis. This method takes the metal on metal out of the equation for the metal ions getting into the blood stream. The resurfacing was a problem when first introduces 40 plus years ago, but now has been resolved. I was curious if this was considered and what Adam’s reasons were for going with the full hip replacement since he is only in his 30’s. Ben mentioned that one of his previous careers he watched the Acetabular Resurfacing, but he didn’t really talk much about it.
