Note - I was asked: Is waste yarn always needed? Great question you don't have to do the waste yarn. The purpose of the waste yarn is for it to hold your live stitches so the knit fabric does not unravel at the cast off edge. For the beginning cast on it is recommended because the 1st few rows tend to not have a consistent tension so your project will look better but this cast on is secure and is not easy to unravel if you decide to not use waste yarn. For casting off depending on what I am making I don't always use waste yarn, I will sometimes use a needle and grab all the live stitches but you run the risk of accidentally dropping stitches. For cast off I've also used my tunisian double ended hook and placed the stitches on there, or with the crochet hook I make single crochets and cast off but, I find it easier if I'm going to close the tube that I use waste yarn because then when I crochet the tube closed and create a seam I find it easier to do. You should also secure your machine to the table when you are using. I don't do that in this video and I usually hold the machine on my lap while I knit when I'm not filming. This video will only be available right handed since it's not alot of crocheting in the video. I've also only filmed it in English. If anyone wants this video in Spanish too please let me know. If I have enough requests then I will film a Spanish version of this tutorial.

Thanks, I hope you do. Thanks for commenting. I just finished filming it and wasn't sure if youtube would let me release 3 or more videos for today. It's only 2 small sections that went a little bit off camera while I was filming. Thanks :) I hope you can watch this video when I premier it on Tues.

You're welcome. I'm glad you liked it. You should look at Koalas knit and knacks KZbin channel she has alot of great circular knitting machine tutorials. I also have a brief video where I give the pattern for a smaller sized blanket I made by using the circular knitting machine. I made 6 tubes, closed them, then joined them and added a border. It was late last year that I published it. Thanks for commenting and watching. :)

the yarn in the glove I'm wearing for the thumbnail picture? I may have mentioned it in the video but I don't remember right now. I used Lion brand Mandala ferris wheel... I think that might be Summer day, sprinkles or vintage carousel colorway... I can't remember the exact colorway. I made them at least 2 or 3 years ago.

@@ginnyscraftroom sounds good, for now I have a few baby blankets and a little dress I need to make for my new baby cousin. The live in a very hot climate so they don't even want blankets, lol. I've just been so busy I haven't been able to make them yet but I do have lots of the mandala yarn and I love how it works up.

What’s the highest ply you can use on these machines
@infinitelyzero
@infinitelyzero 8 ай бұрын
I think this will vary depending on where you are located - how your yarns are classified and the level of humidity where you live as well as the fiber content of your yarn. You should check what is recommended in the manual that came with your machine. From what Ive experienced an 8 to 9 ply and maybe some 10 ply's in the US (a DK weight cat 3 with some thinner category 4 worseted weight yarns) ... has to be on the thinner side and I have used 100% acrylic. I have never tried cotton or furry or thick yarns and I wouldn't recommend it or bamboo because it lacks stretch and the machines don't like fuzzy yarn. Some people have used these or thicker yarns and they talk about their experiences. Ive had issues with certain thicker 4 weight yarns- worsted weight here in the US like Red heart super saving, it might be the sizing on it and I had to pass it by dryer sheets and wash the yarn before using on the Sentro 48. My Addi King machine can take a 4 weight yarn no problem. I don't use thicker yarns on mine so not sure what the upper limits are exactly. I would refer back to your manual that came with the machine.

@@Son0565 you're welcome. There is also a site called yarn sub where you can type in some of the names of the yarns I mentioned to find other similar yarns. I am not sure where you are located and which yarns are available to you but I can try to help you if you comment with the name of a few of the yarns.
