a loose crimp on the start relay for a fridge is what most likely caused the fire at grenfell tower. some of the wiring was recovered, they x-rayed the crimps and found little gaps between the copper strands which hadn't been pressed together closely enough which increased resistance and heat.

@@liamstedman7742 Must be nice, thats gotta be a rarity though I dont know anyone with calibrated crimpers including myself. I do have half decent quality crimpers atleast which is more than most, all my crimpers are made in germany or sweden by knipex or pressmaster, the amount of sparkies that just run the cheapest no-name shit they could find on ebay or whatever discount store was cheapest at the time, and never bother checking if they work properly or not is pretty high

I have a question, for a residential electrician in Sweden it’s basically never considered since we have 25A as a maximum main fuse 99% of the times. Our busbars are often rated to 63A, are yours rated higher or do you interpret that to the maximum load and not the rating on the preceding fuse?
@Sparks1Plumbers010 ай бұрын
Mate. To the best of my knowledge, UK busbars are 100A rated as standard.
@residualelectrical10 ай бұрын
Yeah the busbars are spec’d of the switchgear so will be 100A easy 👍🏼

Surprised you didn’t run a 25mm neutral to a din rail distribution block and not daisy chain the neutrals 🤔
@residualelectrical10 ай бұрын
That’s one way to do it I guess, but i would be more surprised to see a 100A neutral din rail block… currently it’s configured as per the manufacturers instructions, it meets the standards it’s designed too and the warranty is valid.
@grahameida716310 ай бұрын
@@residualelectrical not saying it is technically wrong, just seeing the 25mm tails in and a 6mm? Coming out. In the past I have used something like this to run a separate feed up to each rail. Terminal Block Distribution Box, UKK-125A Din Rail Electric Wire Connector Universal Power Junction Box, (It will not let me post the link from Amazon).
@residualelectrical10 ай бұрын
Sure, I’m just saying if I used one of those connector blocks the board would not meet BS standards, and therefore would need to be a departure from the regulations on the certificate, it only meets the standards it’s designed too if it’s installed as per the manufacturers specifications, which it currently is. It would also have no warranty if the Din connectors were used and the board failed for some reason. The connectors look cool, and I’m sure they are popular for European boards, junction boxes and panel building. I’m not sure on the CSA for the tri-rated that comes with the board, I would assume it is suitable for 100A, the smaller neutral is for the SPD which is limited by its protective device and also a specialist component with its own standards. I’m not saying the connector block is rubbish, but I’m saying it wouldn’t be complaint, or the best option for the customer in this case. I just disagree with your original statement as I would more “surprised” to see a Din rail connector used, as in my 10 years I never had seen one used in a domestic board, that’s all.

@residualelectrical10 ай бұрын
It’s not as bad as you think for Schneider.. - Multi row Board £122 - SPD £50 for kit - RCBO’s £30 each - AFDD £130 each And that’s all screwfix prices, you know it will be a lot better over the trade counter 👍🏼
